The army usually has positional statements on things like this. Peter should be able to help you get hold of this if there is one. I personally don't think they would have a problem with it tho.

I wouldn't worry what the Army says. God holds the highest trump card anyway ;)
If it's not against the Bible, then pray about it and see what God says.

I looked through the pos statements online, and the only reference to IVF was in the section about surrogacy. The way it was mentioned seemed to imply to me that the view is that it's OK. As S_E said though, we're not worried about what the church thinks, we would just like to know where they stand. I mean, all the other positional statements I've read indicated that if someone went against them, they should still be treated with love, and given all support possible.

Here's one that's closer to what you're looking for, I think:
Assisted Reproduction (http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn%5Cwww_usn.nsf/vw-sublinks/85256DDC007274DF85256B97001328E3?openDocument)
My personal concern regarding IVF lies in my understanding that several embryos are usually grown, and then those not used are destroyed or used for stem cell research. But I could be wrong there - I haven't researched it in depth.
(Edited to say: that isn't meant as a judgment, or to start a debate. I wanted to clarify the 'ethical issues' mentioned, from my own viewpoint. I hope that doesn't cause pain to either of you - it's certainly not intended that way)

yes you are right about the embryos. i have given much thought to this and although i know others will not agree with me but for me its all good. i tink stem cell reserch is a good thing and will probably let them be used for that.

My friend tried AI and IVF for three years, nothing worked. $20K+ down the drain.
I prayed for them just as they were making their last attempt.
She's giving birth in June.
AI & IVF? No need... all you need is God :amen:

Please allow me to correct myself. My friend still did need AI and/or IVF to get pregnant. The difference was that my prayer was added on their last attempt. Therefore my "AI & IVF? No need..." statement was not what I meant to say.
My apologies for the bobo. That's the last time I post messages past bedtime.
May the Good Lord lay His wonderful touch upon you... :amen:
