Hello all my coptic brothers and sisters!!! I would like to know what you think my dream means. I have had this Dream many times. sometimes 2 nights in a row. what does it mean??? Heres how it is. I awake but im not in my house. Im in Hagia Sophia it smells of Incense. There is no quaranic Verses and evreything is unplastered. I hear a trumpet blowing and I walk outside. I see An angel on Top of he Dome Blowing a trumpet. Then I see The angel (Michael? the angel is in armor) hands me a rolled up piece of parchmet. I unroll it and it says "Show the way" Then the angel hands me a key and tells me to "open the door"????? HELP!!!!

Hi Konstantinos,
Not sure what or who is Hagia Sophia...can I trouble you to clarify please?:)
Have you talked to your confessional father about the dream? What was his response?

domi... is that your picture in your avatar? If so, I guess I was expecting someone a little darker complected, like Ethiopian looking or something. Wer you or your parents converts (or one of them?). Sorry if the question seems really personal. I'm jsut curious. i really don't have much contact wiht the Cooptic communion. Only the one lady who comes to our Church from time to time who is Coptic. She is definitely Northern African looking though.
Just curious.
John (sorry about hijacking this thread... and as far as the dream goes Konstantinos, I don't know... could just be a dream, could be pointing you to being a priest or who knows... I'll go with what Maximus said in TAW: don;t put too much into it but don't discard it either... talk to you priest ;))

So you've been Chrismated? How did you come across Coptic Orthodoxy? How did you find a Church? How long have you been Coptic?

I feal so intimiated ok...lol..how do i answer this..
So you've been Chrismated? How did you come across Coptic Orthodoxy? How did you find a Church? How long have you been Coptic?
What's Chrismated? Does that mean converted? I'm not an "offical convert" but i belive in Coptic Chritanity. I was muslim but not an "offical muslim" but then my freind Hany got me back into Chrstnaity and he was coptic..he's an offical egyption coptic...not like me i'm a itallian want to be coptic lol so that's how i got into this. I was originaly just a chrstian chrsitan but i only knew the basics like christ has died christ has risen and u get presents on chirstmass and i wasn't that strong in my belif. Now i have a backgroud and a sect.:) I havn't found a church yet I just got into it like a cupple mothes ago I can't remeber the exact number but like 7 ot 8..probly less. Everyone else in my family is chrstian..not coptic christan. They don't realy know about n e of this, no do i want them too. I did e-mial a coptic church but they r yet to respond so I still have no church :(.
Thanks for ur interest

Domi, that's wonderful you are so interested in the Coptic Church. It is certainly a beautiful faith and that is great you have actually real contact with Copts as well (through your friend Hany). You are certainly in good hands. just a word of advice, take your time and keep asking great questions like you've been doing. Some of us TAWers can help you out with a lot of them too since there is little difference between us and the Oriental Chrsitians (that is, the Coptic Church) in how we tend to understand the beliefs. There are some important differences, but don't worry about that. Keep asking and I am sure that others like Erini and others here will hellp you along. Oh... and definitely try to go to Church a few times with your friend Hany. It will seem REALLY wierd at first, so you have to give it several times. But don't put any pressure on yourself. You are a Christian and that's what's important at this point. When considering the Christian "sects" as you call them, it is important to consider VERY carefully if this is where God is calling you because as far as the Eastern Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox and Catholic Churches go, if you choose anyone of these, it's a life-time commitment and one that is taken very seriously. So, keep looking at the Coptic Church. By the way, Chrismating is where they officially accept you into the Church by annointing you forehead, hands and feet with oil (or "chrism"). That's when you profess that the Church you are joining you believe to be the One, True Church of Christ and you profess your fidelity (faithfulness) to that Church for your whole life. have you been baptised? If not, you would also be baptised when becoming a Coptic, Eastern Orthdoox or Catholic. May God bring you to a Church, one day, where you can feel completely at home.
God bless you!

The woman at my church who was telling the kids the St. Abanoub story is Egyptian and Lebanese and she is very fair skinned. I would have thought she was just generic European.

Domi,
With the cristmating with oil...you'll barely even notice it. The preist takes small bottle of oil, puts his thumb over the opening and tips it upside down, so his thumb just gets a tiny bit of oil on it. Then, he just takes his thumb and makes small little crosses on your forehead along with the other areas. So the amount of oil that gets put on you is probably similar to the amount one would use when putting on perfume or cologne.
If you get any time, this site here :
http://www.coptic.net/lessons/Christmation.txt explains the purpose of christmation, which is to receive the Holy Spirit.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
God Bless.
