Peace be with you all!

Does anyone here have any recommendations for a good CD containing traditional humns? I became a Christian after being invited to play in a Moravian brass choir many years ago, and the music was a big part of what pulled me in--the older hymns really do resonate in my soul. My birthday is coming up, and my wife is looking for some ideas.

With many thanks in advance--

God bless,
Sam

30 Years Of Award-Winning Music

Any thing Rich Mullins is good.
I started by getting CD's with Various artists on then so I could see if I liked them or not.
I could go on and on, but this is a start.

This is a good site

Lynda Randle sings hymns and she does a marvelous job

And the following is very traditional...a set of 3. I don't know where you can find it. I find them at local Christian bookstore. Good luck.

Jars of Clay just recently released a cd called: Redemption Songs. It's a cd of older hymns done to a different style of music. Check it out it's great and I'm not really into hymns, but this cd is good.

Check out this (http://www.compasslifescapes.com/shop/dept.asp?dept_id=15&) site for some great music CDs. You would probably enjoy Sacred Classical (http://www.compasslifescapes.com/shop/product.asp?dept_id=15&ItemID=211135&).

I have many Lifescapes CDs/tapes, they are high quality, and are sold in Target stores. I really enjoy my vast collection.

You also might enjoy the Cyber Hymnal (http://www.cyberhymnal.org/).

If you want to hear a beuatiful rendition of Amazing Love (http://www.bible-researcher.com/amazing-love.html) by Charles Wesley then click on the link.

BTW, Happy Birthday!

If you want hymns with just music and no singing, definitely check out Chris Rice's The Living Room Sessions, a collection of piano pieces. He also does a Christmas CD.

4Him has an album called Hymns - A Place Of Worship that has some great versions of old hymns such as There Is A Fountain, Be Thou My Vision, It Is Well, etc.

God bless,
SamIf you like old time classic hymns. The Randy Travis Worship & Faith CD of hymns is very good. Its kind of country guitar, and his voice is very good. - No electrical instruments

"Farther Along", "How Great Thou Art," "Sweet By and By, "Peace in the Valley", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee,""Love Lifted Me"How Great Thou Art," "Softly And Tenderly," "You Are Worthy Of My Praise," "Blessed Assurance") along with more contemporary songs ("You Are Worthy of My Praise," "Open the Eyes of My Heart," "Above All")
