Such a sad event. It's scary how much hatred there is in this world. I just pray that this world were more united and accepting of others.
God Bless,

Prayers for the blessed repose of the holy martyrs, Orthodox and Catholic, among our Armenian brothers and sisters. May their memories be eternal and thrice-blessed.

I'm sure you've seen the news Yeznik, the Turks are trying to pin the blame for 1915 on the Armenians.

My favorite, this year, is the Turks have decided to open their historical archives. Yeah after 90 years, they want to start to have a "discussion" give me a break.

Hi Yeznik,
thanks for opening this thread!
This is a big subject all over Europe right now and I've seen many articles and programmes in German media about this. I still can't believe the Turks are denying it all.
German Parliament (Bundestag) will soon pass a resolution that urges the Turks to accept the Genocide as part of their history and to deal with it honestly. I am very glad they started this initiative.
Before Turkey does not admit what they've done to the Armenian people and before they give religious freedom to Christians in their country I do not see the point in them joining the European Union. (They closed the Orthodox Seminary in Istanbul years ago and did not allow it to open again!).
Greetings and blessings
Bonifatius

Hopefully, perhaps a small amount of internal dissent will change things. I saw this article (http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050418/D89I11Q80.html) today which is at least a little encouraging. It's also encouraging that some countries are being vocal about this, Bonifatius mentioned Germany and I know Russia officially recnognizes what happened as genocide. It's sad that neither our country nor Israel does.

Dear Yeznik,
I pray to the Lord to remember those souls who were lost. The blood of martyrs and innocents will never escape the Lord's heart.
Truly a sad event.
God bless you.

Hi Yeznik,
It’s such horrific thing that Armenians had to go through. I had no idea that the Armenians have suffered so much. We, as Coptics, can identify with your grief as Armenians.
Egypt up to the 7th Century was 100 percent Coptic Orthodox Christian, but after the Arab take over, now only 10 percent are Coptics because the Arabs have given the Coptics only 3 options: either pay incredibly high taxes that only the rich could afford or convert to islam or be killed by the Sword. So many Coptics died over the centuries and still dying till today. You can read more about it in these websites:

Thank you Yeznik for sharing the Armenian History.
May the blessing of Palm Sunday be with us as we remember today (24th of April) the Armenian martyrs and may their prayers be with us always.
May the Holy Pascha week enrich our lives as Jesus gives us the ultimate example of suffering unimaginable pain for humanity and giving us the glorious triumph of his Resurrection.
Love and blessings

Today at church we had a 95 year old priest give the sermon about the Armenian Genocide, he was six years old at the time, he said he remembered that mothers were throwing children into the river because they have heard what Turks have done to the children, he also saw a Greek patriarch whom the Turks took knives to his face and shaved off his beard, torn apart from his limbs.

Here's a picture that was on Yahoo with this caption:
Armenian Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem Torkom Manoogian, left, lays a wreath at a memorial as they mark the 90th anniversary of the mass killing of the Armenian people, at the Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem's Old City, Monday, April 25, 2005.

Anyways, for those of you (by any chance) who do not know about the Armenian genocide check the links above or see the movie Ararat! God bless you all!
