I was wondering what is the big difference between UM, Nazarenes, Wesleyans, and AME? Are their doctrinal beliefs different? Social beliefs? Traditions?
I am planning on going into the UMC for fulltime missions. I will be attending a Wesleyan School to finish my undergrad for 2+ years and then I will be going to a Wesleyan Seminary for my graduate studies. If this is ok then are our beliefs that far apart?

Philimon says Onesimus needs to go home, but keep bringing the posts in... this is a good question, that we Methodists, and everyone else, might need to know,

I don't think we're that different as far as doctrine goes, but the people that collectively make up the three different churches probably would have different opinions on social issues. At least that's true from my knowledge of the UMC and Nazareen churches. Both deal a lot with politics, but they're at different ends of the spectrum.

That's a lame reason to split a church..

I know that the Methodist's beliefs, collectively, try to hold true to Scripture, the Book of Discipline and the Book of Resolutions. I was trying to find out if those beliefs are different. I understand that their are always little things like whether you should use the little glasses and wafers for communion or serve it by intinction, but I want to get down to the core beliefs.

I believe you should continue to follow your current path that God has placed you on and
PRAY for wisdom and discernment. God calls us to different things for each particular time in our lives. If He is calling you to missions, what difference does it make if it's w/ the UMC or the Weslyans ? If He wants you to lead a congregation through pastoral ministry or youth ministry that door will open when HE opens it. Study hard, pray hard, and love the life that He has given you now !!!!!!:amen:

diligence and zeal.. looks like I should get started. I still don't understand the B in NT.. I understood the other grades though. No need to go into a discussion here.

From a former member of the UMC who is now a Nazarene, the major difference that I notice is that Nazarenes focus more on the doctrine of entire sanctification. I never heard it mentioned while attending the UMC (I was a member for 10 years or so). But, I don't think that's an issue that would be a problem for you during your education. Good luck, though. You sound really excited about getting started.
