Is there a website that can show me where a Western Orthodox Parish may be located in my vicinity? Does anybody know if there are any in the Chicagoland area?

Thanks for your time,

Cleopa

I hope I can make it to a WR parish at some point. I really would like to visit one.

When we lived in Omaha, we visited St. Vincent's every once in a while. While we both preferred our Eastern rite parish home, it was also wonderful to fellowship and commune with all the wonderful people at St. Vincent's. It is a small but thriving parish.

Even though I came from a Roman Rite background, my Aunt introduced me to the Maronite Divine Liturgy offered in Aramaic in the 1970s.

I must say that I was very impressed with the Eastern Liturgy and fell in love with the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. The continual response of Lord have mercy speaks to my soul.

When I visited a Western Rite Mass, I stood in the back because it was so different and I didn't want to be standing when everyone else had knelt. I tended to focus on my painful swollen knees, so it was a distraction. All the somber kneeling during the Western Rite Mass contrasted with the Resurrectional experience of standing in the Eastern Rite Divine Liturgy.
