It is with sadness today that I saw that a servant of Christ, Fr. John Platko, of Holy Trinity Church outside Kansas City reposed in the Lord. The announcement is here (http://www.oca.org/News.asp?ID=774&SID=19). I had heard a while ago on Ancient Faith Radio that he was battling cancer and they had offered several intentions for him.

The first Orthodox service I ever attended was at Holy Trinity.

My family is seriously considering moving to the KC area, and we were interested in that congregation. It was then that we learned of Fr Platko's illness. Our prayers go out to him and his family.
