I am interested in learning about the ecclesiology of the apiscopal/Anglican church. Can you recommend any materials? :)

Well, we are a branch of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church -- we were founded in 33 AD by Jesus Christ.
If you want more than that, you may get some debates, but we all like debates around here..... ;)

In church terms we are that cute mongrel that everyone pets and wants to play with but no-one can tether a leash to.

Except we are actually the pedigree. We are the one Holy Catholic Apostolic church that Church history refers to, and i have no doubt we are the modern fulfillment of the church that Jesus himself prophecied.
The Anglican church really needs to stop selling herself short. We are not the poor brother/sister of the Catholic/Orthodox tradition. We are the Church who will bring the gospel to all non-Christians. Let's stop knocking who we are and start honouring Christ's command.

you know tom , anglicanism is by definition so non-triumphalist that you may actually be on to something
but it will be due in no small part to the inclination in the anglican nature to not be triumphalist
good post

The problem I have is that I am unable to find episcopalism in the NT. So can you show me where it is?

Jesus came and set up a church, not a Bible.
This church later set up the Bible as a standard.
In John 20, we see the annointing of the disciples, and the beggining of apostolic succesion. Are you intereses in early church history or what?

Hi St, Augustine,
Don't be so literal. :-) *None* of the major denominational sects are mentioned by name in the New Testament. There are some references to "the church of God" and some denomination decided to purposely name themselves after that reference, but they did so in like the 1800s, and the biblical reference was almost certainly intended as a general one in any event. And, no, that doesn't mean we should all be non-denominational. It just means God cares more about our walk with Christ than the name of our fellowships.

We are the Church founded in Acts of the Apostles when the Holy Spirit was bestowed on the Apostles, ordaining them the first bishops.

I am interested in early church history by the way :).
I take it you mean "Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you." I agree that this shows that Christ sent his apostles but where to we find the apostles ordaining bishops (Acts 14:23;Titus 1:5?) and then the bishops ordaining bishops etc?
