I don’t think that the body of Christ, as a whole, understands that we are to be DEPENDANT on God, FOR ALL!! It is a harsh reality to accept. I do find that the bumper sticker and team jersey mentality is more prevalent now than ever. Everybody wants to be a part of not going to hell, but don’t want to sacrifice their life for it. Sacrifice MEANS to give up for another. We are to GIVE UP our own lives and take on the life of Christ. We are to literally NO LONGER EXIST. So, instead of “believing” that Jesus Christ is their Lord and their Savior, they just “accept” Him as fire insurance from hell. Doing the word, being the word and speaking the word requires commitment, dedication and consecration and most of us are simply not there. We spend time on “godly issues” without accepting that the real “godly issue” at hand, is us. Our walks are far less superior than Christ actually requires of us as His Body. I don’t believe that members in the body of Christ actually understand what that means. Physically, WE ARE HIS BODY!! We make up His arms, legs, torso, bone, marrow, organs, etc.

We ARE His body. It is a COMMANDMENT that we have the mind of Christ. NOT a choice. It is a COMMANDMENT that we be crucified with Christ. IT IS NOT AN OPTION. And yet, we treat God like He is decision, when He is life. We forget that following Christ is not a belief…it is how we live life. It is the way we HAVE TO LIVE in order to please God. This world we live in, should not ever see us. They should only see Christ.

It is a huge responsibility. That is why we hear so many arguments about how there is none perfect, BUT CHRIST JESUS. They forget that WE ARE HIS BODY. We are to be perfected daily as we move closer to being more like Him. Most feel this can never be achieved because they don’t want to accept that in order to achieve it, YOU have to give up your own life. You have to do your part in God’s word. God doesn’t want us sitting on the sidelines while He and satan are on the playing field. NO, the team (the body of Christ) works together for the victory. We have a long way to go. I just want to make sure I am doing my part.

Love ya!!

Hobbes: Aren’t you supposed to be doing homework now?

Calvin: I quit doing homework. It sends the message that I don’t know enough! All that emphasis on right answers makes me feel bad when I get them wrong. So instead of trying to learn, I’m concentrating on liking myself the way I am.

Hobbes: So the secret to liking yourself is to lower your expectations to the point where they’re already met?

Calvin: Right. We should take pride in our mediocrity.

That's some motivation!!! Awesome!

To add a bit to what you're saying, consider the Lord/servant relationship, or should I say, Lord/slave relationship, like Philemon/Onesimus. We can't identify with that, because we live in America, but when you take a good hard look at the true nature of that realtionship, the slave has no choice but to implement the Master's will. If we realize the reality that we don't actually have a choice, that would help us tremendously.

I think the biggest problem with the church today is that we are trying to do for God instead of just letting him commune with us. We all seem to want to accomplish something BIG for him, when in fact, all we can really do is accept him and be with him. Absolutely every person goes before God with empty hands, even the things we have, the things we do in his name, the great things we accomplish for his kingdom, all of that, is given to us as gift according to his purposes.

We cannot strive to do great things, just like Martha couldn't please Jesus by cooking him a great meal. Mary, who merely hung out with him, at his feet because she knew that she was not his equal, pleased Christ more than all the people who were out doing this or that for his cause.

Existing IN Christ is more important and more pleasing to God than DOING for Christ.
