I've been going to this really great church, and I think it's non-denominational, but how do I know if it is, would the name give anything away?

The name may help, but not necessarily. I go to a church that has "congregational" in it's name, but it's really non-denom.

You should ask someone for a statement of faith and also if they are affiliated with a denom. It's okay to ask! You should know and they should have no problem telling you. The most important thing is that they believe the Bible is inerrant. My church has deacons and elders, which is very Biblical. You need to have some authority figures, but they are all elected by church members.

Denomination usually implies that the church belongs to one or both of the following:
1) a confession of faith
2) an organization of churches at the regional/national level

If it's independant or non-denominational, it is most likely not affiliated with a denomination, however, the leaders (or congregants) may follow the doctrine/theology of a denomination which they'd previously belonged to.

The only way you can find out is to observe and ask. I doubt anyone would be offended. Most Christians are happy to explain for hours at a time what they believe.

you would have to ask one of the leaders in that church you go to find out.
