It came to me yesterday that the two main Christian holidays - Christmas and Easter, represent things that happened in the past - Yeshua's birth and resurrection. While the Biblical feasts represent not only things that happened in the past, but also look forward to the future - "shadow of things to come" it is written. Like Paul wrote of Passover - "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ, our passover, is sacrificed for us." (1Cor. 5:7)
It's good to remember; even Yeshua told us "this do in remembrance of me", but it's also good to have hope.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report." Hebrews 11:1-2
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Titus 2:11-14

how very astute.
Never noticed that before but it's absolutely correct. The types and shadows of the Feasts are yet alive while "holly-days" are the shifting memories of culture.

Yes, he is the Living Word, thus has Living Holy Days, his plan of salvation is from before the foundation of the world and will be celebrated in the world to come, Halleluyah!

My favorite subject, the shadow of things to come.
Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. For the future lies in the shadow.Isaiah 51:16
I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand- I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, 'You are my people.' " We need to study the shadow so that we are covered by the Lord's shadow. That means we have to know where the shadow is. Lamentations 4:20 The LORD's anointed, our very life breath, was caught in their traps. We thought that under his shadow we would live among the nations. The shadow will not be among the nations, it will move and we are to be ready to leave to the wilderness, and there find refuge from the tribulation to come. (HCSB)Col 2:16-18 16 Therefore don't let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of what was to come; the substance is the Messiah. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on ascetic practices and the worship of angels, claiming access to a visionary realm and inflated without cause by his fleshly mind.
I beleive it starts with the heavenly sanctuary. We have three feasts that were not fulfilled with the first coming, and they are the fall feasts. The key to to Hebrews and the fall feasts lies in Yom Kippur. Hebrews 8:5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountainSo how are we to see the shadows of what is performed by direction from the Law of Moses regarding sacrifices and know what is to come? The law of sacrifices is only a shadow of the good things that are coming–not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.Yeshua will perfect in His final work of Atonement on Yom Kippur when the fall feasts will have their day of nor rehearsals but reality.

Psalm 91:1 NAS Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. "As we celebrate the feasts we are dwelling in His shadow"
Isaiah 30:2-3 2 Who proceed down to Egypt, Without consulting Me, To take refuge in the safety of Pharaoh, And to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt! 3 "Therefore the safety of Pharaoh will be your shame, And the shelter in the shadow of Egypt, your humiliation. "Bad shadow ...bad shadow!"

"As an apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste." Song of Solomon 2:2
(I thought about this verse when I was checking out John 6 in the Greek and there are two different words used in regards to "eating". )
