Yeznik,
What language is your signature in? It doesn't look like Coptic to me.

Its is a prayer by Saint Nerses the Graceful, and its written in ancient Armenian.

So do you attend the Armenian Apostolic Church, or the Coptic Orthodox Church? I noticed the cross under your name is Coptic, but the flag is Armenian. I was just curious. If you do attend the Armenian Church, do they use the ancient Armenian language during the liturgy?

God Bless,
Elizabeth

This is not meant to be rude, but do you know that your name, feo, is Spanish for ugly?

Yes, I do attend the Armenian Church, I have the Coptic Cross because the is the cross for the Oriental Orthodox churches, and the liturgy is done in ancient Armenian. How about Coptic liturgy, what language is that in?

That's what I figured. Parts of our liturgy are done in Coptic--mainly the hymns, and the rest is done in english and/or arabic. It varies by location and church. I'm sure the liturgy in Egypt is all coptic and arabic. But here, in my church in MA, we are using more and more english to accomadate the american egyptians who do not speak arabic.

What liturgy do you use? Is any of your liturgy in english? If I were to attend an Armenian church would I be lost you think?

Elizabeth

We use the liturgy of Saint John Voskiberan(Chrysostom) everything is in ancient Armenian. I have seen other Oriental Orthodox attend my church and knew what was happening. Besides, the liturgy is translated into English in the liturgy book so the people who don't understand the Armenian can follow in the English.

I've never attended a liturgy using St. John Chrysostom's Liturgy.

We typically use St. Basil's Liturgy, and then sometimes we will use St. Gregory's or St. Cyril's.

pshaw

I havent visited a Coptic Church since I was in Egypt last. I have plans to visit one here in the States soon hopefully! The services are usually in English, right?

Yeah, most Coptic Churches in the states have most of the service in English. But I think we are always suppossed to have a little bit of Coptic as well.

Some churches have english liturgies on some days, and arabic on others. Mine, for example has an arabic one from 7-9am on Sunday, and then the english one afterwards. Most Churches, have websites nowadays, so you can go on there and find out when they have the english liturgy.

If you go on www.mycopticchurch.com (http://www.mycopticchurch.com), you can search for the nearest Coptic Orthodox Church.
