John 5:14

Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you."

WOW!!! Did the healed man ever sin again, for the rest of his life?

John

We never know. I would assume he did because of what Paul says.

Nice to meet you, LouisBooth. Welcome to the forum! :)

I agree that there is a very high likelyhood that the man sinned again......at least once or twice. ;)

So, what was the point of Jesus' command?

I think Jesus was talking about the specific sin that probably caused his problem in the first case. Or you could look at it like this: What was Jesus supposed to say, Go and sin less often. He wants all of us not to sin. Sin carries consequenses and he wants us to keep our noses clean

Or, one might look at it like Jesus knew he was going to sin again. But, why didn't He say, "Try not to sin any more."?

By the way, what sin caused this man to become crippled?
