Okay, this is the one thing that's going to make browsing threads for members here a less crowded affair. :)

I have modified the contract/ expand feature on our site.

Essentially, I've changed it to hide/ show images and signatures in posts.

If you want to use this feature to work automatically, click on the "Profile" button at the top, then on the "Options" link, and change the option "Hide member avatars, signatures and other user images in posts you have marked read?" to "YES" (the default is "no").

Once you have activated this, this new feature is active.

Now, when you have decide you have read the threads you want to read in the forum(s), just click on the "Mark All Read" link in your "Welcome Window" or individual "Mark Forum Read" icons next to each individual forums.

When you return to a thread, all the posts you have marked as read will have the member avatars, signature, and other user information like gender smiley, flag icon, post levels, mood and other ratings will be HIDDEN. You can make these show by clicking on the "+" icon next to the username of the post.

All posts that you have not marked as read will automatically have all these images and signature SHOWING. You can press the "-" next to the username of the post to hide these images.

You can also click on the "Hide" or "Show" links at the top of each thread to hide or show all these features in the thread.

So, after you have read posts and threads, and want to mark all threads read, remember to click on the "Mark All Read" link to make all posts have these images and signatures automatically hidden. :)

Try it out and enjoy! Go to your profile and options sections to switch this function on!

The loading of the site should not be affected - it's the same. I am only displaying the message in the contracted posts, when before I didn't.

It takes about two minutes for the site to load for me-- who is hosting the site and where at ?

2 minutes??? That is a long time. The site loads in about 5 seconds for me using a 56k modem - the site is hosted in the US, and I am in Australia, so I can't imagine it to be the server's problem. It could be an ISP problem, or an intermittent connection issue.
