Anyone using bible software?

Hi everyone.

I thought it might be interesting to see if any of you are using bible software and which one you are using?
I am using Logos 2.1 and am considering updating to the new series X software. What an incredible tool we have these days with software like this.

I use e-Sword (http://e-sword.com) and a few others, cause e-Sword doesn't have NIV...

I use PC study Bible I get updated from time to time but it aint cheap. Check out their products on biblesoft.com . If I could aford all the updates I'd have to get a bigger hard drive.

I have the KJAV 5.1.8 its a great piece of software that is free and it has an abondunce of tools. But i use mostly my NASB study bible i bring to work with me.

I use the PC study Bible also. And it is expensive. It is worth it though. I looked around some before buying it and I think that Biblesoft had the best product. It is very easy to use. I use it more than my Bible that I have in book form.

I use theophilus and crossword.com for Bible study tools, but I haven't thrown away my old-fashioned concordance either. I used it just last week to look up "Shulamite." So much faster to grab the book off the shelf and zing over to the "S"s! But I wouldn't want to do it that way for an extensive study. It would take too much time and give me a headache. I'd probably forget what I was looking up, too!

Theophilus is freeware, and it's okay, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay money for it. I was using Thompson's Bible CD, but it was frustrating. To start a new search, you'd have to shut the program down and open it up again. There was no way to back out of a search or to start a new one. You couldn't gt back to the original search screen! UGH!

I use two different types, I use the KJV for windows and The NIV for windows.....I like them both and it makes it very easy to find specific verses that I want to read since it does a broad search by the keywords.....I paid for them both," Quite Expensive" :eek:

I've been using Series X for about four months...

Frankly, it is down right awesome...

Links to just about everything in the library, I upgraded from a Logos 2.1 (Discover the Bible) and it can use all the unlocked books from that version, as well as books I'd added later.

Hands down the best, easiest to use bible program I've used.

(e-sword is good too, very good for free-ware.. but the resources available for Logos are extensive, and can be expanded more readily...)

They also have great support, and if you go to Libronix Series X, make sure you keep current on the newsgroups, as they often preview new features through their website, and let the users know through the newsgroup.

Bible Study Library (http://store.yahoo.com/logosbiblesoftware/intermediate.html) is what I upgraded to, I got a discount that still might be available to upgraders, and they spread the payments out over three months.

I have two different bible software packages, Logos (Libronix Digital Library) and Bibleworks 5. Both are great, but I use Logos most of the time as it seems to be easier to use. (Also I've had Logos for over ten years before updating). My understanding is that a lot of Bible Colleges use Bibleworks.
I also have the Master Christian Library.

Thanks for the Logos info. I have the Deluxe version and I added the MacArthur Bible Study series along with the free one you can get from the E4 group at http://www.freebiblesoftware.com/?pid=1025
The free Logos software from E4 at the link above has some good stuff in it. Check it out if you get a chance.

I use Quick Verse, & recently I got Zondervan's Bible Software - The NIV Study Bible Complete Library, & The Expositor's Bible Commentary.

I mostly use the Zondervan one now.

I went through 6+ years of postgraduate theological education with a manual typewriter. I remember renting an elctronic typewriter to finish my thesis - that was modern! :D

Anyway, for extended study, there is nothing like the feel of an actual book (or many!) in my hands. For quick turn-around and pasting, I use MacBible 3.25 (no longer produced :( ) with Greek NT, Hebrew OT, Greek Septuagint, NAS, NIV, NAB, NRSV, and NIV Study Notes.

However, I have found two web sites that are very helpful for quick reference:

I am finishing my doctoral studies in the next two years - and I hope to buy Accordance 5.0 (but it's $500 for the full program and accessories). However, there is nothing that compares to its capabilities on either the Windows or Mac side - and yes, I have seen and used Logos.

I use wordsearch by NavPress Software. It was expensive when I first bought it, back at windows 3.1. I think it was about $350, and the upgrades are about $50. But it's very fast, and I really do like it. For me, it was worth what I paid for it. I esp. like the way it is tied in with the Strongs concordance, so I can pull up all the Bible verses for any given word, from the origional language.

There are times I can do a study in two or three hours with the computer, that would have taken maybe 8 to 12 hours to do with books, before we had computers. Thanks, JohnR7

Thanks for the input filosurfer. I am not familiar with the Accordance software since it is for Mac's only, but from what I have heard the newest Logos LDLS software is unequaled on any platform at the moment. I can almost guarantee you though that the books available for Logos far exceed what is available for the Mac's. Maybe I am wrong.
