I am looking for prophecies that have been fulfilled and can be proven through historical sources. Any suggestions?

How about Israel? the Bible fully predicts the scattering of Israel among the diaspora (nations) and then their eventual regathering. Their being able to overcome any foe no matter how hard, their making the deserts bloom and bring forth great fruit etc etc. All prophesised in the Bible and the proof is there for all to see. As G-d himself said, no other god could ever promise something like this, so we KNOW he is the One.
Shalom and G-d bless

Can someone please go and look at these bible prophesies and see if they are accurate? Just focus on the prophesies themselves and not the other stuff on the page. I am looking specifically at this one really..I would love opinions on the others as well. :)

1. Babylon would rule Judah for 70 years
Bible passage: Jeremiah 25:11-12
Written: sometime from 626 to about 586 BC
Fulfilled: about 609 BC to 539 BC
In Jeremiah 25:11-12, the prophet said that the Jews would suffer 70 years of Babylonian domination. Jeremiah also said Babylon would be punished after the 70 years. Both parts of this prophecy were fulfilled. In 609 BC, which is about 2600 years ago, Babylon captured the last Assyrian king and took over the holdings of the Assyrian empire, to which the land of Israel previously had been subjugated. Babylon later asserted its domination by taking many Jews as captives to Babylon, and by destroying Jerusalem and the Temple. The domination ended in 539 BC, when Cyrus, a leader of Persians and Medes, conquered Babylon and brought an end to its empire. Cyrus later offered the captive Jews the freedom to return to their homeland. The prophecy also might have been fulfilled in another way too: The Babylonians had destroyed Jerusalem's Temple in 586 BC, and the Jews rebuilt it and consecrated it 70 years later, in 516 BC. Having the Temple again showed, in a very important way, that the effects of Babylonian domination truly had come to an end.
Jeremiah 25:11-12
"…This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years. But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt," declares the Lord, "and will make it desolate forever."
Someone gave me the rubuttle that the land isn't desolate now and so the prophesy is not fulfulled, any thoughts?

Christy, I cannot imagine anyone interpreting Jeremiah in any way other that prophesying the Babylonian exile.
Since you brought it up, there is some interesting history surrounding the Babylonian exile worth noting.
Jeremiah remained behind in Judah and travelled to Egypt where he encountered Jews worshiping Ishtar, the Queen of Heaven, again. Ezekiel became prophet during the exile and is considered by many to be the father of Judaism as we know it. The remnant of 42,000+ Jews that returned from exile (most assimilated) brought with them this new form of Judaism articulated by Nehemiah, Ezra and Hillel (http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=730&letter=H&search=hillel). (The link because I personally think everyone should have to study Hillel.)
In Babylon, many of the Jews lived in an area called Spring Hill. In Hebrew, it is rendered Tel Aviv.

I have heard (and I am no expert or even well-enough read on this at this point, myself) that much of Israel was indeed quite desolate until the Jews, by sweat and muscle, have turned it again into a thriving land, planted trees, rains are more common again, etc. And I have also heard this only adds fuel to the anti-Jew hatred of the "Palestinians", who seek to covet the land.:sorry: not sure that's helpful... but anyway :)
OH duh. See, I went and read the OP wrongly. *Zem goes looking for a mid-afternoon coffee jolt.*
