Hi everyone!

This forum has been established to give a home to home churched and unchurched Christians, but I hope everyone will enjoy fellowship and join in discussions here! :)

I guess you could consider me home churched. I don't actually have a weekly fellowship thing. I see faith as a private thing and so I worship at home by myself. Do I fit in here?

Yep, you are the "unchurched" that this forum was started for!

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to see great things in this forum. I'm currently unchurched, and would attend a home church if I could. Pleased to meet you all...

What does unchurched mean?

Currently between Churches or having never attended a Church meeting...I would suppose..., but perhaps there is an official definition I'm not aware of.
I used to work at a city mssion and Church for the handicapped and poor of the community, but am disabled now and have to stay at home most of the time.

Definition of unchurched? How about, "People who are Christians, but don't attend church for some reason, any reason"?

Oh, OK. Well i'm happy you've got a forum, though a regularly attended church is vital in my opinion.

Can't argue with that. It is better to be part of a church family! :)

Well, like with me, I really haven't found a church that I like real well. I did visit one recently that I liked but it's a little too far away for me to visit regularly. It's a United Church of Christ church. Most of the churches around here are way too conservative for me and I honestly feel more comfortable learning about and worshipping God in the privacy of my own home.

So do I Holly, I can rely on the teachings of the Holy Spirit that way and not the teachings of men. I have heard the Bible misconscrewed far too many times in my life and want none of that again. Now, I belong to God and rely on His Holy Spirit to ead me into all truths. Then, He will lead me where He wants me due to my submission.

There are so many beliefs and religions on this planet today one wouldn't know where to start to find a church. And, it's easy to become confused due to the New Age beliefs so many are entering into.

This is my sentiment too. I'm having such a battle trying to find one church nearby where I can fellowship with people of 'like mind' as so many of the charismatic/pentecostal churches I used to feel most comfortable in are entering into so many New Age beliefs.

.

misconscrewed

I wondered if that was intentionally spelled that way...but that is GOLD!

the correct spelling would be misconstrued, but I loved the way it was spelled in your post.

So many men screwed around the Bible and it's a shame that people will believe just about anything, so long the message makes them feel "good". :sigh:

And, that is the problem Tav's, New Age. Today, we have to be very careful.
New Agey stuff scares me today! So many are turning to it it's incredible! But, that's what happens when our country becomes so cosmopolitan.

not just New Age-y stuff, but some other things that are still going on in most churches....

I found this site by accident, and let me tell ya, it's a shocker.

here's the link:
http://christianunplugged.com/proctor_essay.htm

what it says about "seeker-sensitive" churches that cater to people's desires and demands, and NOT focusing on God. *chills*

One question though, how does one find a home church in my area?

This is one good and scary article Lori. As to finding a home church, I have no idea. Ask the Lord to lead you to one if there's any where you are.

But its OK cause we're having a GREAT TIME at a GREAT CHURCH, with GREAT PROGRAMS and GREAT MUSIC, in a GREAT WORSHIP CENTER, with a GREAT PASTOR, that tells GREAT STORIES and GREAT JOKES, to a GREAT CROWD before a GREAT GOD!

hmnnnn ... sounds very familiar!!!

The Lord always takes the lead Lori. But don't forget one thing. There is many a time when the Lord just wants you all to Himself! ;)

Hi,My husband and I are at home, and are probably going to be for a while, since Church became political. We were youth leaders, and the youth were great ! and they loved us,and we loved them, but the Church didn't want people like us,that were not 'like them',for we did not have a degree, and we were both divorced. So we said,ta!ta! Now ,we have a 15 yr. old ,that we haven't found a good youth group for her, because all they want to doi s DATE! its a youth dating service! So,we feel a little down on the local church right now,but are in need of fellowship, plus I am about to homeschool my two younger ones,so I do not get any 'adult' fellowship at all!! But we are people who love the Lord, and want to keep in touch somehow with His people..this is where we ended up.I am usually over at the pentecostal/char. area, but that gets a little out of hand in diff. beliefs that are going on also in the church that is 'nonsense' if you know what I mean.so it causes stirs over there! I just want a place to go share the word, and relate maybe to someone who just wants to sit at the feet of Jesus, and learn and minister to each other! God Bless,Bonnie and Joe

I can relate to the above post. I too have walked away for "political reasons" or "jobs for the boys". I too was a Sunday School teacher and enjoyed it. My decision to walk away was not taken lightly.

Having researched the issue though I/ we are far from alone in this. Research has shown that thousands are turning away from churches for similar reasons.

My husband and I walked away from our church of over 7 yrs because things changed when we moved into our new building. After a few years of spiritual abuse, we left. That is when the real abuse began! We were tormented as they tried to keep us there. We visited other churches. Maybe we are too wounded, maybe we see the light-- only Jesus knows. We watched another "church split" and now we are homechurched. That means we stay home on Sundays and rest. I figure that I have enought "sabbath Hours" accumulated from all the meetings every night of the week, all day Saturday, Sunday services and after church home group meetings to account for the next 20 years of missed services....
now my bitterness is coming out.
I feel robbed of my time, my extended family and my relationships. We were so driven by "the vision" (whatever that means we still haven't figured out, bigger buildings, more numbers, more money) that we lost our lives and our relationship with our Lord.

Anyway, we wait for the next leading from God.

My wife and I just left a chuch of 20 years.

I must admit that the article gave me chills as I read it. The statement quoted above, the "rules" about "not talking bad" about the church. Hmmm .. why have a rule like that unless you are afraid that there is something bad to say?

It was just so compelling.

There was lots of "abuse" going on too. I'm sure the leadership wouldn't think so. They just don't see it. It's amazing.

It appears that we have a mass exodus going on and almost all are the ones who were real contributors or are mature Christians. There are lots of new faces though.

What a spiritual mess.

Home Church seems appealing and we are still looking into it.
