I'm going to a Forward in Faith UK affiliated, 1928 BCP service tonight. I've never been to one before, so I would like to know if there is anything I need to know?

I'm afraid I can't help you on the question of whether or not there's anything you need to know, but enjoy and please do tell us how it was and what you thought.

It's very high church. Revise saying your Hail Marys.

I went, and I have good impressions. It was more of a high mass than usual becouse of the Presentation. The refrain to one of the songs was "Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, full of grace." It was more formal than I'm used to as well, but I still liked it. I may start going there on wednesday nights.

The priest wore a cope during the blessings of the Candles. Everyone else also kissed his hand. There was a formal procession around the church. The alter was against the wall, and the Priest distributed the body and blood.

The priest was the assisting priest becouse the priest in charge is in Walsingham at the moment. He told me to call him anytime I wanted to pray the Rosary.

So, I liked it.

Glad to hear it was a positive experience!

FiF are very VERY anti-women clergy, aren't they?

It is their raison d'etre.

The unkind, like me, refer to FiF as Fundies in Frocks.

Those are so my people. Unfortunately, none of them live anywhere near me. I am sinfully envious. Please keep going so that I can live vicariously through you. I would be especially interested in how they do Ash Wednesday.

Hah. Yes, I like that.

I'm actually considering skipping school to go on Ash Wednesday. Wrong, I know, but in the end will school really matter as much?

(I might get only one chance to go to an Ash Wednesday service.)

I would like to, but I'm a good kid/guy. I've skipped school only once, and that was a pep rally. My friend compares those to Communism on LSD.

On Ash Wednesday, my parish is having a 6:45 am Mass, 9 am morning prayer, with a 9:15 am Mass, 4 pm Evening Prayer (no Mass) and an 8 pm Mass.... I WILL be able to hit one of those!!:amen:

I went to Ash Wednesday service all the time that I was in the service. We had a nice one out in the Mojave Desert. We were all had camo paint on our faces (so the smudge really blended in) and weapons slung on our backs. One of the best, actually. Tell school where you're going and demand it be ok with them. Maybe you'll inspire someone else to go too.
