I took a long needed break from trying to find a church. I came back to my search last week & something once again led me back to the Catholic Church. Maybe its my familiarity with it, perhaps its fellow posters on these online forums I visit? If I read enough posts from Catholics, I am right back where I started (thinking that this is the church for me) I know that a relationship with GOD is not about feelings, but how can I ignore the fact that Im feeling uneasy with a lot of the catholicisms teachings. Id rather not discuss which ones. Im not here to put down catholicism or debate it. Im not a scholar by any means. I just know that I dont "feel" this is right for me. How do you ignore your feelings.
I cant talk to my husband about this because he says Im flighty. Maybe I am a little, but oh well. God still LOVES me right:amen:
Id love to hear your "POLITE" comments!:)

Hi Katesmom,
I was too catholic a while back, it was strange for me when i had learned soem of the things i was taught were not from the bible, kinda like the uneasy feeling that you must be having. but i will say that if you do have Uneasy feelings then maybe it really is not for you.....Maybe try praying for wisdom? it will come, i too am still struggling to find the right church for us, but where ever God leads us is where we will go.......Pray Pray Pray! good luck.

i was raised an evangelical in chuck swindoll's church in fullerton
i converted to catholicism when i was around 27
after many years of feeling just so dry i couldnt stand it, i went looking for another church
and found one
i do not think rome is the whore of babylon or any nonsense like that
but for whatever reason maybe people are called to certain churches, i dont know
it wasnt for me
i couldnt be a fundamentalist
you might try an anglican or episcopalian church, very similar mass
you might also talk to your priest honestly
and lastly i would bug father rick, who is always around these forums, he is the son of an assembly of god minister, educated at assembly of god seminaries and an old catholic priest (valid apostolic succession very close to rome on some things)

Ummm...katesmom, what exactly is it that you are asking? I'm not trying to be impolite. I'm merely trying to ensure that I address the point of your post.
Are you simply asking how we can ignore our feelings? If so, what feelings are you having that you think need to be ignored?
Thanks,
God bless

I might suggest that rather than looking for a church you might try looking for the Head of the church, Christ Jesus, as He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Now I don't know you personally so I don't know how diligently you are seeking Him. Perhaps you are, but then again perhaps you are not. But I can tell you this, it ain't about church, it's about living, moving and having your being in Christ Jesus 24/7 , not an hour and a half on Sunday. Do you really know Him ? I have a friend that has a saying that originates from the days when gas station attendants actually came out of the gas station and pumped your gas, and were we to apply this scenario to God's Fillin Station it might go something like this, "Het buddy, fill er up today ?"........ "No thanks, just gimmie two bucks worth." It seems there are many who want God's "fire insurance" but choose to run their own life rather than submit themselves fully to Him. When you know Him, He will direct you to fellowship with other believers.
God bless
