Here is a basic introduction to the stations: A starting place. I really look forward to praying these stations with you!!
I thought I would post this for those who might not be familiar with the SotC. These are incredible meditations and they touch me deeply. Most Catholic churches offer the
Stations every Friday during Lent, and I think that some Protestant churches do this as well. I highly recommend participation for *any* Christian. Walking the Way of Pain, step by step, really brings home the enormity of Christ's love for us.
I'll be posting the meditations and Scripture that came with my beads, but you can personalize each Station as you like.
We begin with the Sign of the Cross.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Luke 9:22-24
And he said, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life."
Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
Lord Jesus, help me to be open to your closeness and presence as I begin this journey to Calvary with you. Help me to find in Your Passion and Death the strength to take up my cross and follow you.
(Before each Meditation...)
I adore You, Lord Jesus, and I praise You. Because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.
Station #1. Pilate condemns Jesus to die.
Lord Jesus, often I judge others and fail to be understanding or loving. Help me see the people in my life through Your eyes, not the eyes of a Pontius Pilate.
(After each Meditation...)
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be... (If anyone doesn't yet know these prayers, let me know and I will post them. )
Station #2. Jesus accepts His Cross.
Lord Jesus, You embraced Your Cross to redeem the world. Help me to embrace the crosses in my life---the hardships, struggles, disappointments, pain. Only by recognizing my own weakness, can I discover Your strength.
Station #3. Jesus falls the first time.
Lord Jesus, You know how often I fall trying to follow You. Yet, You are always there to lift me up. Help me always to trust in Your loving care for me.
Station #4. Jesus meets His Mother.
Lord Jesus, Your mother Mary's grief was surpassed by her love for you. So often You come to me in others and their love gives me new life. Help me to see how often You love me through other people.
Station #5. Simon helps carry the Cross.
Lord Jesus, sometimes I am indifferent to the needs of others in my life. I even neglect those whom I love. Help me to see that loving others is the surest way to find You in my life.
Station #6. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.
Lord Jesus, at times I am afraid to reach out to others. I do nothing when I should act, I say nothing when I should speak out. Give me a deeper and more courageous faith. Help me to trust that You are with me.
Station #7. Jesus falls the second time.
Lord Jesus, failure and disappointment sometimes lead me to despair. I hide behind my pride and self-pity, withdrawing from You and others. Give me the hope I need and help me never to be afraid to begin again.
Station #8. Jesus speaks to the women.
Lord Jesus, Your great compassion for others overwhelms me. I feel petty and selfish when I think of You and the way You love. Help me to pour out my love, that You might fill me with Your love.
Station #9. Jesus falls the third time.
Lord Jesus, Your failing strength makes me see how helpless I am. Without You, I can do nothing. Help me to rely on Your strength, to see how much I need You.
Station #10. Jesus is stripped of His garments.
Lord Jesus, seeing You so cruelly humiliated makes me realize how I cling to my accomplishments, my possessions, my way. Help me to let go of those things in my life that prevent me from growing closer to You and others.
Station #11. Jesus is nailed to the Cross.
Lord Jesus, I can never doubt Your great love for me when I see You crucified. Help me to see Your Cross as the great sign of Your love for me.
Station #12. Jesus dies on the Cross.
Lord Jesus, Your broken and lifeless body calls me to deeper faith. You chose death, even death on the cross. Help me to see my crosses as ways of loving You.
Station #13. Jesus is taken from the Cross.
Lord Jesus, seeing Your body taken from the Crossreminds me how fearful I am of letting go of my own life. I am frightened when I think of being unimportant, useless, helpless. Help me to place my life in Your hands.
Stations #14. Jesus is laid in the tomb.
Lord Jesus, when I see the great stone sealing Your tomb, I feel alone and abandoned. Even though You sometimes seem distant or absent in my life, help always to believe in Your closeness and loving presence.
Luke 24:1-8
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " Then they remembered his words.
Lord Jesus, help me to walk with You each day of my life, even to Calvary. The sorrow and joy, the pain and healings, the failures and triumphs of my life are truly small deaths and resurrections that lead me to closeness with You. Give me the faith and trust I need to walk with You always. Amen.
Peace be with you all.

Guilty!
GOD was/is not guilty
but we are
HE took our guilt
HE became guilty
Why do we contine to sin?
Why do we continue to nail HIM to the cross?
it was not the law or the torah that was nailed to the cross
it was our sins
past, present and future
that caused, causes and continues to cause HIM such pain
 Stop sinning!! i yell at myself:mad:
:prayer: JESUS please give me the strength i need to avoid sin!!:prayer:
all for JESUS!!

For the sake of HIS sorrowful passion
Have mercy on us and on the whole world!!

Isaiah 53:4-7 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society
4 Surely HE took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
5 HE was pierced for our transgressions,
HE was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon HIM,
and by HIS wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on HIM
the iniquity of us all.
7 HE was oppressed and afflicted,
yet HE did not open HIS mouth;
HE was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so HE did not open HIS mouth.
"May our sympathy for JESUS turn to those who here and now need us.
May we see CHRIST bruised in them"

XIV JESUS is laid in the tomb
the stations end here but in most Catholic churches this leads us to the Tabernacle which contains the Body of JESUS and reminds us that all this only matters in the light of Easter!!
i prayed the Stations daily during lent and that has been good. i won't pray them this coming Friday but after that i will go back to praying them every Friday. I hope you have "enjoyed" these May GOD give you HIS peace!!
all for JESUS!!
