Hey guys, just wanted to share with you what was just delivered a few minutes ago (30 minutes exactly).
I just traded our piano in for a Hammond A-100 with Leslie speaker.
It has been 10 years since the last time I played an full organ. I still have an electronic keyboard, but it's not the same. The piano I rarely played.
I'm so happy I've been jumping up and down.
I have forgotten how to play it in as well as I once did...but that will come in time. It used to be I practiced the organ for 4 hours each day, and most of the time played Bach, though once in awhile jazz and other things.
Sharing in my rejoicing,
Charlene ^_^ :)

Wonderful, I hope you enjoy it for many years.
When I first came home from the service many years ago, I had my wife try to teach me how to play piano, after much practice you could almost recognize a verse from Home Home on the range.

Thanks!
A Hammond A-100 is the same as a Hammond B3 (as in the B3 the classic rock 'n roll bands always used)... only the cabinet is different.
Hammond A-100s can be used in church services, and have a full, rich sound. This one looks exactly as the picture I posted, the cabinet is exactly that one. Isn't it pretty? My other Hammond A-100 didn't look like that, and had more of a basic, boxy look to it. I'm happy. :)

Yeah! Its a beaut! I love organ music, my wife has one but hasen't played it in years.
Did I mention that I just got a new $80 RCA radio for my work shop? That is the only mucial instrument that I have mastered. ^_^
When I was in the service one of my buddies tried to teach me the guitar, only problem was, all the songs I played sounded the same

A small update on my progress.
I played Bach for over an hour today!! It wasn't good, but most of the notes were correct!! ;) I'm so happy. To think I used to play it well, and now fumbling with it. It has been 10 years. How long do you think it will take to get to where I WAS 10 years ago??
I can't wait!!

Keep Practicing and you will probably make it back in about a couple of months.
This is going to be a stupid question, but I only ever played Piano and guitar. Exactly how do the pedals on an organ come into play with the keyboards. A Piano of course has only 3 pedals. One for softening all notes, one for enhancing all notes and one in the middle that not many people use at all.

The pedals on an organ (in my case it has 25 pedals) are in base clef. In case any of you do not know what that is, it is the line that starts with the backwards "c" ;)....
There is a 3rd line of music on organ music, so the pedals play those, and an organist plays "heel, and toe, heel and toe" to reach the notes. The most notes any organist can play at one time are 12....**yow!**
The pipe organ is the largest musical instrument in the world, which uses the whole building to make its musical sounds. Think "Cathedral" here...that's large. :)

Okay, I played Canon in D Major by Pachebel today. Half way through I was doing pretty good, and then the last half, made a few wrong notes - Hobbes (our Border Collie) was nearby, and as soon as I hit the wrong notes, he hid under the computer hutch. My son said, "Tough audience," and we both started laughing. Well, it was funny. :)

LOL. . .yeah, tough audience! Hmm. . one talented dog if he can tell you hit wrong notes. ..my dog doesn't care. . .he just likes to be interested in what's happening.

Congrats on your purchase! You have inspired me to start playing guitar again. I will be contacting my local curch to see if I can join in the celebration.

What I have noticed is that I can pick the melody out on the guitar of most songs, but to figure chord progression is a more difficult step. I am still pretty good at discerning a fourth step and fifth step as well. I would love to learn more guitar than I did some 30 years ago.

Hey, that would be awesome if I could encourage anyone to pick up their music once more.
I've began playing the piano at the age of 5, and took up clarinet in 7th grade, and on into high school honor band. I never forgot about learning to play the piano, even though I wanted to get back to it someday. For some reason many years ago my hubby took me in to see the local store that had musical instruments, and met an old friend of his who owns the store. He gave us a fantastic deal on that first organ. That really did "click" with me, so to speak, and I moved up from that first Hammond T-50 (? I think it was) to a Hammond T-500 (Cougar), and then traded that in for a Hammond A-100. However, and unfortunately, that Hammond had a short in the keyboard, and I traded that one in for a brand-new Yamaha piano. I wanted our sons to learn to play the piano, which they took lessons for 1 year, and then dropped it. They have two guitars, which they also never play. :( Oh well.
The Yamaha piano was just traded in for this Hammond A-100 plus Leslie (the other one had a Leslie also), and I got $300 back in the deal.
This is the story of my life in a nutshell.... would it sell into a movie yet?? ;) **joking**
