The travel agent has given us an extension until Friday to get the money together, so we'll see what happens.

I think I might have a new job!

I had an interview this morning and it went so well that they called the recruitment agent straightaway to say that they wanted to put in an offer.

All we seem to need now is for my references to check out, and hubby and I to decide whether we want me to work part-time or fulltime!

How's it going, Elmo?

Praise point - looks like I have the new job (haven't gotten the official offer yet, though). I should be working 4 days a week for slightly more money than I'm currently getting for 5 days a week.

Prayer request - my husband's currently in hospital... he's physically OK now but has to stay in until at least this afternoon (it's morning here, still) to see a specialist. He really isn't keen on hospital stays (they tend to cause depression) so he could well be feeling rather down today.

Just to let people know I'm home now with a bit of a bruise and cut on the head where it collided with the concrete when I collapsed at work. My right arm also has sore muscles in the upper arm so I guess I landed on it or it was from the tensing of the body. I would like to thank all those who visited me in hospital. As has been said often I get depressed when in hospital so it is a great help. I return to work next week.

Well, after what seems like 20 or 30 phone calls today, back and forth between a couple of people, I'm happy to say that our trip has been paid for. Now we just have to pay the money we owe to someone other than the travel agent.

I have sleeping pills too, but I avoid them as much as possible. I think once I start working nights again, I'll easily fall back into my old habit of passing out on the bed from exhaustion after all the hard work.

Lord Jesus thank you for giving me the strength to walk into the Citadel yesterday. It was a wonderful experience and I'm sure it will be my place to be every Sunday. Please show me the way to you. I want to walk with you always. I was nervous but you calmed my unease with friendly faces and warm handshakes. Thank you Jesus.

I am so depressed and frusterated. I need prayer badly.

I have been out of the work force a long time in order to stay at home with my children etc. I finally, after a year have of looking for a job, and after being turned down, job after job, got an offer to dry and fold laundry at a local hospital. I should have been happy to get a job offer, but I am very sad. I mean I am 35 and that is the best I could get? Anyway, coming back home, in the car, today, from orientation at the hospital I was pretty angry with God and thought some horrid things about God. :help:

I get home and learn I was called by Catholic Charities about a resume I submitted. I have a job interview on the 6th of July with Catholic Charities to do work as a homemaker.

Please pray that I get the job, if God wants me to have it, and if I do get it, the scheduling will work out with the laundry job.

Catlover - *huggggggggggggggggggggggg*

It can be really depressing, can't it? I'm glad to hear you've got a couple of options, though. It'll help... and remember, it's not like you're stuck in those jobs forever. But God might just want you to help someone out while you're there.

Thank-you, Gwen's Mom, Abiel, and InTheFlame. I appreciate the kind words and prayers. They really help.

Today, I realized I got the better job out of all the ones I applied for, I am folding CLEAN linen, no masks or gloves required. :)

In September I am back in school, I have 50 credits and I will be working towards a degree in social work, if that's what God wants me to do!

We are deciding in the next couple of days whether I should go on to do my post grad in midwifery or not. Have to weigh up all the various issues this entails to make a wise decision - so prayer would be great.

I worked on Saturday. It was okay, I can see a carpal tunnel problem :D ...goodness can one really fold that many sheets in one day?

I will do the job to the best of my ability and, in the mean time, be happy I got a job. The economy here is terrible. For example at the orientation for this particular job, one young man had a degree in computer electronics, he got a job in the kitchen, and was happy to find a job.

I will be grateful, and pray.

The only thing is, I have been out of the workforce so long,I have forgotten how much people like to talk about getting drunk. :( I don't want to come across as a prude.

Also I just wanted to thank you about our moving situation and helping Dave realize the benefits of moving into an apartment. I really want you to know how grateful I am about him also working from home. I know you placed the idea in his head!!
Thank you for our health and our lovely Gwen. I am so glad you are in my life. :amen:

I think it went OK, but have to wait at least a week to find out if they want me, then I won't start for at least another week after that. They're looking for staff for a factory that's re-opening their production lines, and they're starting each line at 1 week intervals, so the manager is doing group interviews until next Friday and then selecting people for each start date.

I have a pleasant update on that laundry job. I actually like the job, my co-workers are great.

And, and, I found out the other job I interviewed for, the phlebotomy job, that department is always looking for people because there is trouble there. So God is good, He was indeed looking out for me. The only thing is, I feel awfully bad for bad mouthing him.

Finally, I was accepted to the local university in their social work program.

Lord, I bring before you the innocents caught in the middle of all the violence currently going on in our world. There is war and there is abuse, there is religious and racial violence. I pray dear Father that you would place your arms around all who are affected and troubled at this time by violence in any of it's forms. Allow the scared, lonely children to know the peace of being in Your presence. Lead the families displaced by wars to safety. Comfort those who are worried by the continuing reports of terrorist plots.

I also pray for the people who are in charge of the security and safety of all our nations, that you would grant them wisdom and insight, that they may continue to discover those plotting violence before it can be carried out.

Anyway, last year, he has threatened to cut her and her children's head off with an ax and has also stated more recently ,"...if I wanted to kill you, I would come to where you work and shoot you..."

Update on us...

We have been approved 'on our side' for the homeloan - they did the valuation today, so we should get the official approval either tomorrow, or no later than next Tuesday.

The building and pest inspection were done today - we are still waiting for the report, so please pray this was done with no hassles.

Oh yeah - guess I should mention that we've also put an offer on a house (obviously) and had it accepted!

All very exciting over here - lots of packing to get done now! :)

He is finding any excuse he can to stop the kids coming latest is football on a sunday. she's finding it really dificult at the moment to cope with the situation as it is. Please pray that our Lord will come into the situation and work things out for her. pray also that he will speak to her husband and bring him into the kingdom. Please pray for strength and comfort and that she will feel the lord very close to her supporting her at this very awkward time.

the daylight shines through
After the showers
the rainbow's in view
After life's heartaches
there comes from above
The peace and comfort
of God's healing love.

Hey all.

Prayers appreciated today for those caught up in conflicts all over the world, and for those peacemaking, sometimes at risk of their lives. I point up the work of Christian Peacemaker Teams currently in dangerous situations trying to build bridges between communities at the most local levels. All those working with church leaders in places of conflict, for example especially the church leaders in Lebanon. Those working in the area of church conflict transformations, specially in the churches dealing with issues of gay inclusivity and women's ministry, and those training in church conflict mediation/transformation in our own TSA currently in several territories I know of, and possibly more.

Hey guys,

Could you please be praying for someone_else (Mrs Elm0) and I as we seek God's guidance on a few pretty important issues. Top of the list are what to do and where to live.

One of the results of our second trip to Zimbabwe is that I am strongly feeling that God is calling me to go into full time youth work/ministry. As my first steps towards this, I'm looking at doing a Cert 4 in Youth Work this year, and hopefully finding some part time youth work somewhere.

It's looking like the only place I am able to do the Cert 4 at the moment is on the opposite side of Brisbane to our church, our friends, and where we'd prefer to live.

We are currently looking at the pros and cons of living in a few different areas, and I'm hoping to talk to someone about the course soon to find out more details. So, please be praying that God will point us in the right direction, and that we are open to His guidance.

Thanx in advance.

Hi elmo
will be praying for you and your lovely wife.

I wouldn't mind some prayer. I have epilepsy which is triggered by sleep deprivation. My wife and I are expecting a baby in four weeks so sleep deprevation is on the cards. I will be talking to my GP tomorrow and hopefully can get in to see my specialist at short notice (not easily done) for some tips but seem as I don't recognise the warning signs I can't call for help beforehand. I will also be the primary carer for the baby.

Lord we thank You that You have provided TheDag with a wife - a true blessing - and then another blessing in the form of a baby. You intedn for us to take the greatest care of that which you give us, especially our children. We pray that you will equipe TheDag, and the MrsDag for this. We pray that You lay Your mighty hand of healing on him. We pray that the doctors will also see Your glory. Guide the doctors, if you choose that way, but Lord we pray that You will still get the glory.

Here's the details we got in an email:
I wish I could tell you all how fabulous life at home with Tahli is but sadly she isn't at home. Yesterday she had to be rushed back to the special care unit after a day of being lethargic and unresponsive. At 5pm she was unconcious and I am truley grateful for how fast an ambulance can arrive.

The doctors have admitted that they have no idea what is happening, given she is having periods of being fine and periods where her behaviour is so unresponsive to the point where she failed the startle test 10times.

Please send prayers or good thoughts for our sweet Tahli.

Can I also mention H.? Husband walked out with no warning when she was 7 months pregnant with second - she went into prem labour and baby is currently in hospital half an hour away and about a few weeks old. She and her older child are absolutely traumatised, and struggling in one of the dampest, smallest flats I've ever seen. Her faith has fallen apart and last night she was trying to clean the flat while still recovering from a C-section. She's finding it near impossible to cope emotionally, physically and manage getting daughter to and from school while also being with her baby every few hours for feeds in the hospital.

Many thanks,

They broke Evangeline's waters at 7am yesterday, but things are still going v-e-r-y slowly.

I saw her around 12 yesterday, and she wasn't all that happy, understandably. I work right across the hall from the birth suite, and when I talked to them at 8 last night (about an hour before I knocked off), she hadn't been back in birth suite for a while.

I'm sure they'd both like all our prayers for encouragement for their little one to make an appearance now! :)

Hi everyone and thanks for the prayers.

The news is that I'm renewing my vows in the next couple of weeks and then become basically what's known as a Sister under private vows, while I wait to see if TSA will receive my vocation. I have left the Anglican Order today, feeling a bit sad, but also that it is the right thing.

The problem was that the local group of my Order down here did not want to accept a salvationist because of our view of sacraments. That was all - but two of the seniors felt sufficiently strongly that TSA is wrong on this that they are asking for the 2005 decision made at Provincial Chapter level (ie by leaders of 2,000 Brothers and Sisters in TSSF in Europe) to be overturned so that a Salvationist cannot be admitted. Even if the decision went in my favour that would leave me with a local group that does not want to accept me as a salvationist.

So there you go. Such is life, and I have two lovely people to witness my vows as a (privately vowed) Sister, and all will be well. TSA can decide in its own time whether or not to recognise the vocation and there is no rush.

Warmest blessings, and thanks for prayers, and please go on praying. I believe there are two other people in my territory tentatively interested in a similar vocation, so we may form a group in the next few months - though they may also decide it is not for them. I've turned down a suggestion to help start an ecumenical order of Franciscans in the UK as I think I/we will need time to get to grips with spiritual formation in our distinctive charism in TSA. Ecumenical groups exist on line for dialogue - which is perfect, and adds richness, but for formation we need a TSA group.

Prayers appreciated that it will just be a beautiful way of loving service and that Christ will shine through it. And possibly that TSA will handle it with good humour, imagination and grace? :0)

Praise God for the new job!!!

I heard from my old Order today that they want to keep me on their books and try to resolve it. The Area Minister has stopped the local group leaders from trying to get salvos banned from the Order. I've agreed to stay provided I can be registered as a solitary, and that means I don't have to go to the meetings etc. It just means I don't have to keep going back to the same group that tried to ban Salvationists.

Some things I am not prepared to do for the kingdom! :0) Someone else can go fight that particular battle.

Praise God for wonderful help I've received today from within the Anglican church on the technical side of being an Independent Religious, and the legal aspects. Basically people keep sending their blessing and prayers which is lovely. One lovely Franciscan Brother in a monastery in London said that he believes of all the churches, the Salvation Army is the closest to Franciscan spirituality. I thought that was fantastic. William Booth mentioned Francis a few times, so I wonder if it struck him too.

Warmest blessings

Father I pray that you will give comfort and peace to Surviving, especially when those around her have very little idea of what she is going through, and hurt our emotions and throw us off balance, make us vulnerable without even realising it. Lord, I pray that you will genuinely surround her with Your love - that she can feel it. Father I pray that You will send people to her who will encourage her. Lord, sometimes we so need Your touch. Lord, I believe Your hand is stretched out still, in comfort and blessing.

Father guide her in any decisions she needs to take. Father I pray that You will give her insight to see which advice is Godly wisdom, and which is not.

We thank You, O Loving Father, and trust for Your hand to be seen and felt. In Jesus name. Amen

Hey guys. I just got home today from spending a week as a leader at Red Shield Summer Camp, a camp that's run for boys and girls between 8 and 12 years old. These kids come from many different backgrounds, and all have some form of hardship to face in their life. Please be praying that the words and actions of all us leaders will be remembered by these kids for many years to come, and more importantly, that they will all come to know Jesus.

Thanx guys.

Father we pray the truth and experience of Jesus,a dn all they have heard about Him will stay fresh in these kids minds as a reality. We pray that none of the truthes or Jesus-experiences would be taken away from them. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Many times I have heard it said that a spiritual crisis is the result of too shallow roots: of foundations built not deep enough.

This is entirely different. I have nothing left but roots and foundations.

I am having a spiritual crisis. Maybe crisis is not the right word. Meltdown?

I have a couple of praises, you folks were more than kind to pray for me.

To begin with, I asked for prayer for Ronald, an elderly gentleman who had just got out of a nursing home and was in the hospital.

Update: Ronald is doing better than ever. He has a new to him, mini van and is getting around.

I was complaining I was hired to do laundry in a hospital. Let me tell you folks, I have never laughed so hard in my life, this job stinks but my co-workers make me laugh so hard, never in my life had I had to take pain reliever because I was laughing too much!

Also, I was recommended by one of my professors for a job at the college.

This Wednesday is International Day of Prayer for Zimbabwe.
I emailed friends in Zimbabwe to ask what particular prayers they thought we could be praying for their country, and below are extracts from one of the emails I got back.
I have been asked by several people for prayer points for Zimbabwe, especially since 18 April has been declared by many as an International Day of Prayer for Zimbabwe. These are the a few prayer topics that GOD has laid on my heart (I can send more pointers on Monday if anyone is keen to have them for prayer meetings):
- Zimbabweans would seek GOD’s face and not His hand to save us out of our crisis. There is a difference here, that we would seek our GOD first, to place Him as LORD of our Nation. Zimbabweans need to recognise that real change can only come through GOD. Man can not save, only GOD. As we recognise this and see it happen, may the other Nations see that Revival came through the presence of our GOD. So that His Name would be glorified and His Name known throughout.
- May righteousness be found in our churches and amongst His people. Isaiah 45:8
- Repentance for the sins of the Nation. Each man and women to go before the LORD to receive clean hands and a pure hearts.
- Intercessors to be woken up. Men and women who will stand in the gap to pray for Zimbabwe unceasingly. May their prayers be like incense and pure offerings rising to His Name (Malachi 1:11).

I have been completely and utterly blown away by what is happening here in Zimbabwe and how GOD’s Spirit is moving. This morning whilst praying a friend gave me the following verses:
“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of GOD was hovering over the waters. And GOD said, ‘Let there be light, and there was light.’” Genesis 1:2-3
This passage was given to a group of intercessors earlier this week and then confirmed again today. His Spirit is indeed moving over our nation Zimbabwe, and the time for light is about to come.
As I was struggling to come to terms with what was happening in Zimbabwe, crying out to GOD in frustration. GOD showed me in Psalm 60:11-12 that not man, but only GOD can save us.
“Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless. With GOD we will gain the victory and He will trample down our enemies.”
In Psalm 37, the chapter 7 times mentions that the righteous will inherit the land and 3 times says to wait on the LORD.
“Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.” Psalm 127:1
These verses are about rebuilding the houses of prayer.
Wednesday, I went to a prayer meeting. Mama shared how she had a vision 2 Thursdays ago: her daughter was pregnant, she was walking to the toilet and suddenly gave birth to a child, but the child was very premature. Mama picked up the little girl with pink colouring, placed her on the bed and told the child that she would not die!! When the vision passed Mama started questioning the LORD about it, for 2 days she kept asking.
That next Saturday morning a lady came to visit her, she had had a vision on Friday night – GOD had said to her that ‘The nation is in labor but the midwife is not ready to receive the baby’. There are 2 problems if the midwife is not ready: (1) The midwife needs to tell the mother when to breathe, or she may hurt herself or the baby; (2) If the midwife is not ready to catch the baby and if the baby comes quickly, then the baby can shoot out and fall off the table onto the floor. The baby will then be deformed. The church is not ready to receive the baby- then back to before, or worse. The church is anointed and therefore enabled to GOD’s work. So then why is the church not ready was questioned. ‘State of the church is the state of the nation’. She talked about prayers over 2 Chron 7:14 have not worked. GOD showed her that there was fighting in the house of the LORD and there is no righteousness. Christians and unbelievers all do the same illegal things, no difference in actions with the black market and forex and petrol. State of the nation is the state of the church. ‘Righteousness exalts a nation…’ Proverbs 14:34. The prayer that has not been prayed is for righteousness. Matt 5:13-16, church needs to be salt and light. There is no change in Zim. This is not about Mugabe as President. It is about correct hearts in men and women- each to check their own lives. Are we ready?
Please be praying for our Christian brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe, that they can be the salt of the earth and the bringers of light and hope to their nation. As a few have said to me, it's not all about Mugabe, but he also needs prayers, for his health and for his abilities as a leader. If we pray for Mugabe rather than pray against him, are we not doing what God would want of us? Bring everything before the Lord, and leave it in His hands to deal with.

Hi Catlover,

Not sure. We have put it off for the time being, until we can work out how to celebrate it. It's a delicate situation, as I've a mix of Jewish, Jewish-Christian, Christian and non-religious friends and family. I can't invite Jewish friends easily into church, and my Jewish Christian friends and family can't really go to shul either, so we are without a minyan at the moment in a situation everyone will be comfortable with. There is no Messianic Jewish community anywhere near us.

I'm just waiting on God here. Very difficult. We have a possible date when everyone in my family can meet, but now my brother's family can't make it. We are really not sure how to do it.

Blessings and prayers for young Reuven appreciated!

Can someone pray for me please? I need prayers for God to lead me in the right direction, concerning alot of things really.

Firstly, that I will find the right church. I use to be in the SA (my parent are officers). I then got confirmed and I have been in the CofE. Just recently, I have been going to a few Sunday evening services at the SA. I miss the army alot, but I am very hurt by the army at the moment, and I have alot of anger towards them.

Secondly, that I follow the right path to God's calling. There are a few options for me, and I need to chose the right one.

I went back Monday and, after waiting for about 2 hours to see a dentist, I was told that I was being referred to an oral surgeon! Why I couldn't have been phoned and told I don't know, or at least told as soon as I arrived rather than sitting around for 2 hours stressing about something that wasn't even going to happen!!

So now I'm apparently on the 'urgent' list for the oral surgeon and have to wait for them to phone me and let me know when it's gonna take place...

Prayers appreciated, as I and my family are in an impossible situation at our corps and have been for some months. No solution in sight though people are working on it.

I'm exhausted with dealing with it, but trying to focus on what I'm supposed to be doing. Also searching for work - was offered a job as a professional mediator and then discovered they want me to take another 1500 pounds worth of training to shift to a different speciality (legal and family). It only takes two weeks of additional training, but the cost is appalling.

Many thanks.

Thanks for prayers. I'm making some progress - you wouldn't believe the cost of any kind of legal-related training. There are possibilities now anyhow, and I've found childcare for when I do training weekends.

Re the corps there is now a plan, can't detail, but it will get us out of a really nasty situation. People have been incredible, that's all I can say.

Warmest blessings and thanks be to God for progress made, but please Lord help all of us heal from a desperately difficult time with TSA. I dream of trusting again...

Well I've done it and left the corps, though I will stay on the roll for a few months to see if it can all be resolved, in which case we could go back. I'm too tired to deal with any more. The issue as I understand it is very simple, I'm Jewish and the CO holds replacement theology views which Jewish Christians understand as antisemitism - in fact it's a key part of the foundations of antisemitism.

If there's no end in sight within a few months I will have to take it as guidance and leave the army altogether I think, as it is impossible to continue with a CO who holds replacement theology, and if I move to another corps, I'm still left doing outreach in my own locality, inevitably, for sheer practical reasons, which could cause tensions with the local corps. So that isn't going to work either. But the option of planting/fresh expressions facilitation independently or through a planting group is being explored. It has looked for a long time as though I will have to look for independent pastorates anyway, as the army won't want to find me anything to do if I can't even sell the papers in my own town. I also have options of linking with other churches, but I'm keeping the Articles of War in my Rule of Life and renewing vows as usual, so don't want to commit to another denomination. Being independent fits better with having a sense of being called to the Salvation Army.

The Jewish Christian organisations have been fantastic, and I've had encouragement from all over, but it has been completely devastating to go through. I'm exhausted beyond words, and appreciate prayer for myself and my family.

There is a link here from BMJA which gives some clarification of the issue, though there are all sorts of different angles to it.
http://www.bmja.net/statement.htm I keep being told the army doesn't teach replacement theology, but it obviously has some people in it who do.

Prayers very much appreciated.

I have something that I need prayer for, if you could all kindly bear with me.

I know God has called me into ministry, and this year I have begun steps to do so. I will be sworn in as a soldier in October, and moving on from there. I am looking for a job in accounting for summer and for the next few years as that is my uni major. My mentor has warned me that many good hearted people do not end up in ministry because they get caught up in their jobs. I told him this will not happen to me and I fully believe so.

I met up with this guy today from my old church, which was a pentecostal church. My former cell leader it seems has fallen away. This has affected me because that guy was a really awesome man of God, yet it has only been 6 months and it seems he has gone a long way (not meaning to be judgemental just meaning to illustrate). Tomorrow I'm going for a full day of interviews - but now I'm scared I will fall away and not walk the path that God has chosen for me.

Prayers that Godsoldier will remain just that - Godsoldier. (real name is Clint, if that helps)

My thanks to you all

Clint

Hi Clint
Will pray whenever you come to mind. One tip I would give though is that make sure you keep up the mentoring and make sure you are totally honest. One problem that leaders often face is that they feel they can't admit to struggling when they are. Sometimes it is the people around them who won't let them admit struggling. It can be more of a problem in pentecostal churches as they tend to look for strong leaders hence showing weakness can be bad. (not saying that is the case in all pentecostal churches but that is why Hillsong got so big all of a sudden.)

Evangelina was woken up about 6 hours after originally planned due to minor hiccup in stability. She is very tired naturally. I'm also tired as I didn't sleep very well the last two nights (hardly surprising). Hopefully I will get a good nights sleep tonight.

Please pray for my family. My husband (ex) is mentally ill and has attemped suicide numerous times. Last time he broke into my house and slashed his wrists when I phoned the police.
He has been released from the hospital because the doctor didn't think he was complying with his treatment.
He is very angry and the doctor's are worried that he may escalate and the children and I may be in danger.
I am trying to be strong and not let it bother me, but this is not the man I married. This is a man who left his family, lived with another woman, and when that ended he went crazy. He is totally self absorbed and pays no attention to the kids, and now we are to be afraid of him.
Please pray for his healing, his name is Robert, and please pray for peace for me and safety for all of us.

I have prayed for a miracle in his life and that God releases him from this and that God will cleanse him.

Take care of your safety and that of the children, no matter what. Do whatever it takes to stay safe, even if it means moving.

Please pray for the conversion of the entire Tovey family. They are all wonderful people that have given their lives to those in extreme poverty and will continue to do so. Pray that God will teach me how to witness to them.

Ramadan is a good time to pray for him... that he has dreams of Jesus. Muslims believe that Allah speaks to them during Ramadan in dreams. (That would be irrefutable evidence).

I'll remember him and family in prayer.

This is an URGENT request for prayer.

Long and the short of it.
A seeker who has undergone deliverence, but is going through deep depression as he faces guilt. He sees no point in life. Please pray that he will stand up as JUSTIFIED.
He as actually stopped eating... might stop drinking... please pray.
