Hey Guys,

I was wondering if you guys would pray for me. I've recently been accepted to a bible college and Im reviewing my finances. Im just a bit shy of whats needed, and Lord knows what I am going to do next semester. I was wondering if you all would pray for some divine intervention to take care of me. Now, I want to go into missions and everything missions related that I've been reading has one thing in common. "Avoid debt at all costs." I could easily get a student loan, thats no problem, but I dont want to do that.

See the predicament. You need a degree to be a career missionary but a degree costs money. So one takes out a loan to study bible and missions work. Then you get the degree but no one will touch you with a 10ft. pole because have debt trying to aquire what they require you to have. :D Only the Lord knows why we make things so complicated.

The Lord is faithful, he will provide (http://www.hymnsite.com/lyrics/umh133.sht), pray that he would provide the funds, and guide me about whether or not to take out a loan. Thanks

Bro. Mark

Congratulations, Mark, and the best of luck to you as you serve the Lord. Yes, I will be happy to pray for you, that He will touch you with the blessing of sufficient funds to get you to that degree, and then to serve Him.

May God bless you, and lead you, and keep you safe as you endeavor to serve Him.

I am praying. Talk with the financial aid. They can help with scholarships and grants. Look specifically at Pell Grants to see if you apply.

I am a believer that the passage you speak of means "do not let your debt be overdue." I would think a student loan for seminary is a worthy debt, as is a home loan. Few things other than this would I go into debt for (not for a car or for dinner or for clothes, etc). This was a topic in our hermeneutics class at Liberty Seminary and the exegesis of this passage leads us to the idea that this is one instance where the NIV translation is better than the KJV.

Thank you guys for your prayers :D

I've been discussing this with my pastor and praying heavily about it. I am greatly encouraged that God is going to provide no matter what. Speaking of Liberty Seminary, I do believe that Elmer Towns is coming to our church to discuss sunday school with us. Did you have him as a teacher?
