View Full Version : Do you ever feel like giving up?

Sometimes it's really hard to live out the teachings of Christ, and sometimes the more seriously you take His teachings, the less support you get from other Christians. Why is that? Why do Christians who take Christ's teachings to heart get so beaten up by other Christians sometimes?

I feel the same way sometimes. It seems like the harder you try, the harder it is. I don't know why, I wish I did. But, it is harder to go on and follow the right way than to give up. Someday, this life and all its pain and hardships, will be nothing but a spec of dust in the eternal life we have to look forward to. :amen: I am very excited about that day..........I can only imagine!

I feel the same way, and I too don't know why. But for some reason the Lord keeps lifting me out of that depressive state and gives me just enough faith and hope to see me through the day. It seems that sometimes our thoughts and feelings can get the best of us, even believers. We must serve the Lord by faith, through our will (and His), despite our feelings and thoughts which can be too easily distracted and influenced by outside forces.

As my pastor says frequently ... We're in a spiritual warfare and Satan is going to do what he can to defeat us even the use of other believers. If he takes us down he how will it effect people around us? it's effects more than just us. The important thing is keeping our eyes on God.

Simply put...pride.

We all have it, none of us truly want it, but nonetheless its still there and gets the best of us sometimes. Every Christian is concrete about something in their theology and when someone comes in to interrupt that harmony we almost immediately go into defense mode. Where most Christians lose face the most is becoming "Accusing Christians", where instead of hearing the person out as to why they believe what they believe, they instead say, "you're living in sin", "im right you're wrong, shut up." or something offensive to that nature.
My point of view is this. If you are apologizing to people more than you are giving words to lift them up, then maybe pride abounds greater than you know. None of us will never be perfect and I agree, we Christians put each other down more than the world does which is mind boggling to say the least. I've seen one disagreement absolutely destory people. I know my walk with the Lord has been hindered because of some people's comments to me on this board, but that's on my shoulders. I (we) should never let a person hurt our walk.

Personally I try to stay away from being the "Accusing Christian" as the devil is the accuser of us.

Revelation 12:10 - And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night

Nevertheless, we can't give up and must put the things of the past behind us and press on to the higher calling of God.

My .35 cents.
