Are Coptics cosidered to be Oriental Orthodox?
why is this forum called Coptic & Oriental orthodox since the coptics are considered to be OO?
We should be called The Ancient Way. EO should be called the Chalcedonians.
What do you think?

Copts are called oriental because there are other Orientals, e.g. the Syrian Orthodox Church, the Armenian Orthodox Church, the Eretrian Orthodox Church, the Indian orthodox. those are member of the Oriental family and are in full Communion.
Chalcedonians are a wrong name to call Copts and the rest of this family. If meaning they were the ones that disagree with what happened in the Council of Chalcedon. Then they are all Chalcedonian. But if it means the ones that say of ONE Nature, i.e. Divinity was ruling Humanity and that the Human nature of Christ was a drop in the ocean of the Divine Nature. Then this is the wrong name. This family believe in "mia physis tou theou logou sesarkwmeni", meaning ONE Nature of God the Logos Incarnate. That is both Natures united together with absolutely no separation. Yet this union did not make one dissolve in the other nor one Nature changing into the other. So both complete Natures united and this union is the one Composite Nature having ALL the attributes of both Natures.
I may be wrong in using some of the expressions, i am not a theologian. But i hope this made things clearer Orthodoxy.

Im not sure that the Nestorians and Jacobites are really "the ancient way".

My mistake. I was confusing the Oriental Orthodox with the Church of the East.

As for Jacobites, I don't know...you tell me?

I agree; the forum should be "Oriental Orthodox," not Oriental and Coptic, because that makes no sense.

As for begrudging the title of the EO forum, that's not really fair. You can think of your own name for your forum, but you don't see us complaining about "One Bread One Body" for the Catholic forum because we believe that that quote from 1 Corinthians applies to us. We must all stay away from polemics and work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

In IC XC,
Marjorie

Tell me who were the Jacobites and what they believe different from Orthododx. I've never heared anyone call Armenians Jacobites.
