Psalm 49
19He shall go to the generation of his fathers;
They shall never see light.
20A man who is in honor, yet does not understand,
Is like the beasts that perish.

This passage was quoted in an article as proof that all those who never knew or learned of Yahweh and the gospel of Yahshua during their lifetime will not even be resurrected to judgement and will never have the opportunity for eternal life.

Is this true.......I can't imagine it is.

I'd sure be pretty damn mad if I was born into a nation who had not heard of Yahweh, and before Yahshua's birth.

It doesn't ring true for me......

Does anyone have an understanding of this scripture?

Thank you and Shalom from Bon

These words actually do not pertain specifically to those who have not heard of HaShem, but in fact, includes those who have, for otherwise why would they try to ransom their brother with wealth?

The Psalm is clearly speaking about those who depend on their riches and honor before men for esteem, as if it could somehow spare them the fate of the grave. It's directed against the boastful and wealthy.

The Saduccees would have read this Psalm as proof that there is no resurrection, but clearly that can't be the case. It simply says that it is G-d who redeems, not one's wealth. You can't buy yourself out of the grave!
