I do not celebrate advent. I do celebrate the festivals that are in scripture. Because Adonai's calendar is lunar and our common calendar is solar, and the months have different names it is kinda hard to figure out initially. If you do a google search for "Jewish Calenar" you be able to find alot of helpful info.

You have to keep both ears open so to speak. You have to be aware of both calendars, I have to pay my bills on the first of every month, but I have to keep an eye on Adonai's calendar too. Over the course of time it has become increasing clear to me that the rythym of life that is common is very much different than Adonai's.

Advent...which the first or the second...both are found in the feasts....spring time feasts for the first advent....fall feasts for the second...a rehearsal until it happens.

I think what she was referring to was the "historical church" understanding of Advent. That was how I framed my response.

Kas, as my understanding of Advent is the four weeks leading up the the Birth of Jesus, no we don't celebrate this. It is a man made tradition that we don't find biblical. We believe that Yeshua fulfilled the first part of the feast of Sukkot when he was born, some say on Sept 11 1BC. Sukkot falls each year somewhere between Sept and Oct. This past Sukkot started on Sept 29 at sundown and lasted until Oct 7th. Most Messianics believe he was born during this time. We have two other holy days that we concentrate on prior to that. One is 14 before and is called Yom Teruah, or the feast of Blowing ( Trumpets) and ten days after than Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Once we pass through these days we immediately start building our Sukkahs, our temporary shelters, or tabernacles, or in King James language a manger, which was the sukkah or shelter for animals during this feast. :)
