A dog had followed his owner to school. His owner was a fourth grader at a public elementary school. However, when the bell rang, the dog wandered inside the building and made it all the way to the child's classroom before a teacher noticed and shoo'ed him outside, closing the door behind him. The dog sat down, whimpered and stared at the closed doors. Then God appeared beside the dog, patted his head, and said, "Don't feel bad fella'.... they won't let ME in either."

eek!
How sad...
I'm glad that our school didn't make a big to do about 'church and state' when I was there. Our class president/validictorian made a speech and included in it that she was there only by the grace of God. I was proud and suprised when I listened to her speech.
I prayed alot in school... although it was always silent, so I wasn't a good example maybe, but I wasn't letting the system take HIM away from me when I was there.
Things have been worse in the last 10 years... hopefully to get better...
God Bless,

I remember reading the Bible in school, bringing our guitars on the bus and singing, but that was a few years back.... we had a Christian club, and a lot of kids came, teachers who led the group.....who were there to answer tough questions.....
I guess now that would be unheard of, but 30 + years ago it was common...
its too bad things have changed so much..i am glad that things were the way they were back then

I remember persecuting a Christian for carrying his bible around in school. Our schools and teenagers need a lot of prayer.

Public school leaders do need our prayers. This is another reason why the public schools are seeing a mass exit for homeschooling.
It also depends on the area that some students live in I have talked with teens while some have seen/experience persecution for their faith. I have also seen a few others say they didn't have a problem bringing their Bible to school or sharing their faith but it's getting harder to do so.

I teach 7th and 8th grade history at a middle school in Texas. I have struggled with the fact that as a christian I teach from a textbook that is devoid of the only history that really matters, the History of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. However, I believe I am in the position I am in for a reason. So pray for me that I may boldly reach those youths by the gospel of our Lord.

Praying for you. Would it be possible for you to incorporate some biblical history in there?

Gah. People can pray in school; they just can't do it in a way that makes it clearly a School Function that they are praying.
How many of you would be happy if your kid went to school and there was an organized prayer to the Goddess, led by a Wiccan?
Sauce for goose, sauce for gander. We have church and home to raise our kids in religion; we have school to teach 'em to read. Fair enough.

Oh da puppeee! I think God probably likes dogs as much as we do. Why else would he program them to accept us at all times, to love us even when we aren't being loving, and to devote themselves to us the way we should be devoted to Him!
I've learned more about God from my dog than I ever did from any devotional book.

Yes, it is possible. The kids even help me out sometimes. I forget how we got started on this conversation, but one kid asked how old was the oldest person to ever live, and one of my students brought up the ages of some of the men in the Old Testament. We were also talking about the Olive Branch Petition one day in class. I told them that the olive branch was a symbol of peace that went back to the Bible. One of my students told the class about the flood, and how the bird brought to Noah the olive branch. That was wonderful.
