Is there a liturgy for an advent wreath?

Not that I'm aware of, but I'd be willing to bet that Pmcleanj probably has a wonderful family tradition or ritual, involving one!
I was looking at Advent Wreaths at the church bookshop earlier this week - I'm tempted to buy a brass or pewter one, instead of buying live greenery every year, and then having to keep the cats from eating it. ^_^ There sure are some gorgeous ones!

Hi Benedictine,
we always use a liturgy for the lighting of the Advent candles at the beginning of our services during Advent. Do you mean something like this? I could try and find out where we got that from - it was somewhere in the net ...
Greetings

Hey, I wouldn't mind having a thurible at home! I'd just hate to spend the money for the good incense! :liturgy:

I would love to have a thurible at home too. A local shop has a nice one for sale which I've been eyeing, but I need to save money to use for more important things...

I got a 1/2 lb of frankincense(almost filled a pint plastic container) for $7.00 + shipping;)

Maybe I'll add that to my Christmas wish list. :liturgy: (On second thought, I'd probably asphyxiate the cats!)

Oh boy. I can never ever let hubby know about this thread. Never ever ever! He loves the smell of incense. Sometimes I think he deliberately swings the thurible my direction a bit too eagerly, lol (not really, I'm just very sensitive to aromas). Every time his mom or I go to the the catholic store, he asks us to pick up some. He works in a metal machine shop and is designing his own censer for our home. I've been telling him he's weird, but this thread proves he's not. How will I ever live this down?
*wanders off to contemplate the unweirdness of her husband....

I just got in a new shipment of 100 charcoal tabs for my censer (and my wife hates it!). For some reason, she insists I go out on the back porch if I am going to use incense at home-- something about not stinking up her house.:D
Now what was this thread about? Oh yeah, advent wreaths... HMMMM... I wonder.... can we burn one as incense?

*sigh* Now I'm really wishing my parish used incense more often. Why, oh why, do people have to have smoke and fragrance allergies???

you knmow I'm always waiting for one of them to go up in smoke...we always get the little ones to light the candles, and you see them wobbling around with the candle to light them...one of these days I think wqe will find out what insence soaked wreath smells like

Which goes back to something I said earlier, I'm really tempted to buy one of the brass or pewter advent wreaths this year, much less risk of it going up in smoke!

We use a liturgy for the lighting of the Advent candles at the beginning of the service as well. It is just a short liturgy, and could easily be used at home. Ours have been taken from a Canadian ecumenical source (previously The Whole People of God, I forget the new name), but I don't know if they would be available online. You could try doing a google search, and if you are open to liturgies other than Anglican/Episcopal you may find a few sources. Here are a couple:
