Hello everyone,
I'm brand new to the forums here (this is my second post, lol). I'm posting because I'm wondering if I'm allowed to post and discuss in this forum. I read the sticky in the forum regarding the policy here...but, it didn't quite cover me.
I am confirmed in the TAC (traditional anglican communion). I'm not Episcopal, nor are we in communion with Canterbury. We are one of the groups formed as a result of the 1977 Affirmation of St. Louis.
I've been looking for a forum that is catholic friendly (talk about a chore to find one!). I was actually RC for several years but I married an Anglican and so here I am.
I understand that there are some differences between those groups who were formed in 1977 and the Anglican Communion, but I'm hoping I will be allowed to post here in spite of those differences.

Hi Murron,
I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be here. There are certainly not more theological differences between your TAC-Church and us than within the Anglican Communion itself or even between the different wings of the Church of England - of which we have daily proof ;) . So, don't worry and WELCOME!

Hello, murron
This forum is for "those who self-identify as Anglican".
"Self-identify" means that you consider yourself to be Anglican, and are willing to say "I am Anglican" when describing yourself.
Welcome to your board!

"Self-identify" means that you consider yourself to be Anglican, and are willing to say "I am Anglican" when describing yourself. That puzzles me. Surely that could mean that someone who isn’t a member of an Anglican church but who feels they are Anglican, has as much right to post here as someone who is an active serving fellowship member of an Anglican church (CofE) and who was baptised, married and confirmed in an Anglican church but who feels that primarily they are Christian. I ask only because I have been asked several times by posters here whether I am an Anglican.

Welcome!
In true Anglican Tradition can we really say that we all agree on everything...just part of whta makes us such a diverse family :groupray:
I am a little confused on the TAC and the affirmation of St Lois. Could you give a brief overview for us not in the know :sorry:

Oh boy - first, let me say I'm not a theologian! The Affirmation of St. Louis was a result of changes within the Anglican church; ordaining women, changing the BCP (there could be others, I don't know - I wasn't part of the church when this happened). From that meeting, many groups formed "continuing Anglican" groups; groups who held onto the former traditions, theology and practices of the Anglican faith. The TAC is one of those groups. We are a very small group (but growing!) and to be honest, there aren't any forums or message boards that I have found which are dedicated to (or even include) continuing anglicans. Most people don't even realize we exist, and the ones that do make a point to mention that we are not part of Canterbury (typically in a condenscending way, unfortunately).
It's because of those difference, I asked if I would be welcome on this board as we are not in communion with Canterbury because of what could be viewed as a major difference. I'm not interested in arguing or causing a problem among the community here, I simply would like to find a place that welcomes me (and any other continuing anglican) and allows me to share about my faith as well. I do realize that the major difference of ordaining women could become a hot topic and could cause discord with my presence here, so I understand if this isn't the place for me.
I'm a recently confirmed member of the church. Prior to this I attended the RC church for about 10 years. In my youth I was a southern Baptist; I explored several different denominations after years as a Baptist. Because of my religious background, I tend to have some different perspectives on tolerance of differences. I married an Anglican just over 5 years ago which is how I ended up here. He and his family are all Anglicans (TAC variety, lol) Episcopals or RC. Much of his family was caught up in the 1977 situation, and to this day it's a touchy subject between the ones who stayed with the Episcopal church and those who joined the TAC.
My husband began seeking Holy Orders this last year, and at my confirmation service, the Bishop approved his request. During this time, I have been blessed to be able to use my own religious upbringing to help him as he studied. And even more blessed to be able to study about our own religion. Part of why I'd like to be here on this board is to continue my own study and hopefully be a true helpmeet for my husband.

Hi, murron.
I'm only a guest here, since as you can see by my icon, I'm now in the Orthodox Church, but I also grew up Southern Baptist, then spent 10 wonderful years learning the Catholic faith in one of the other "alphabet soup" Continuing Churches - the Anglican Catholic Church. My husband and 1 son still worship there.
So any way, I would think you would feel very much at home here. God bless you and your husband as he seeks Holy Orders.

This forum is for Anglicans in Communion with the Holy See of Canterbury as well as those Anglicans who are members of Independent and/or "Continuing" Anglican denominations. We also are the official home of the Old Catholics, as they are in Full Communion with the Anglican Communion.
And I would like to officially welcome you to STR! We have some other Independent Anglicans posting here and all three (Anglicans, Independent Anglicans, and Old Catholics) have, for pretty much the whole part, have gotten along splendedly. We simply ask that all sides respect the opinions of others, celebrate our mostly common ground, and not try to call anyone "schismatic," "un-Anglican," "pagan," or anything like that (though I have a feeling you'll have no problem with that ;)).
So enjoy your stay; I hope we get to hear some truly insightful and inspiring posts from you. Oh, and my gift:

aaww, gee thanks everyone! I feel so welcome now. I know this will sound sappy (and believe me, I'm rarely a sappy woman), but my eyes just teared up reading how warm and welcoming you all have been. I've come here from a board that is currently enforcing an anti-catholic policy. I really guess I hadn't noticed how negatively it was affecting me until I see how welcoming everyone here has been.
Thank you, you all have made my evening!

Oooo, I must have!!!!!It was my daughter's catalog, and she's already in bed. I'll check with her in the morning to see what company it was. They were a scream! We both saw them and said the same thing "we gotta get those for dad!" (Dad being my hubby/her dad). He's a Monty Python nut. He's forever quoting lines from the movie at the strangest of times - and he's got our 4 year old doing it. The bridge scene "what is your favorite color"...and I won't even go into the lengthy discourses he has on the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow.

I feel silly, sort of, doing this ...because I'm so new here myself, but here goes...
I've brought someone to the forums. My hubby. I suppose I'm intoducing him despite being new myself - which is rather odd. He is connected to the site at the moment, but watching a show on TV (in other words, I'll probably pay for introducing him while he's away, lol). He's far more versed in our faith (denomination) than I am - and to be perfectly honest, it was his faith (belief and trust in God) which brought me back to God.
His name on here is Thurifer.

Greetings Thurifer...
Greetings Mrs. Apron...
Ok guys, I have to admit something.... When Murron first came onto CF, I was reading in a hurry and misread her name as 'Moron'... (that's what I get from reading too fast)... Anyways... that has been an internal joke ever since with me doing this  realizing I was the true moron...
Then Murron introduces her husband, the priest with lots of incense, named Thurifer who is writing in Latin... then Mrs Apron....
So I get this really silly mental image of a church with an archaic priest with a censer billowing incense so thick you can barely see, a lady on the organ with a dunce cap and one congregant dressed like Ethel the maid from the '50's TV show and trying to dust the pews throughout the whole service.
I guess it's time for me to try to get some sleep, huh?

At St. Thomas More, our 'standard' liturgy is BCP Rite 2. For special services, however, I frequently interject pieces of the Roman liturgies.

What I don't understand is why if someone reports an offender (a gross offender, I may add), why does the mods or admins tell the offender who reported them? This I don't understand at all. That really is not good.
