I made it through confirmation, without there being any earthquakes, or bolts of lightning!;)

It was a great event! It was at St. Anthony of Padua in Hackensack NJ, Bishop Skilton of South Carolina officiated. Guests included the retired Bishop of Cuba, his brother (a Deacon I belive), and three Nigerian priests, from an Anglican mission church in Somerset. The church was packed, and needed some folding chairs set up in the back. The service took place in English & Spanish, and a prayer in the language of Nigeria. Fortunately there were enough adults being confirmed or received, that a 6 foot 42 year old didn't stand out TOO MUCH, among the youngsters;). The service was soo energetic, you hardly noticed that it took over 2 hours.

Congratulations, RobNJ!

What brought about the circumstances of having the alternative bishop? Can you choose him, or is that your local priest's call?

My priest offered the possibility of it, and since it was sooner & closer (patience not always being one of my virtues;) ), I told him it was alright with me. He asked the Diocese, and the priest of the other parish, and they agreed to let me be confirmed there.
The parish where the confirmation took place had petitioned the Diocese for alternate oversight, and had it granted. They are still under the authority of the Bishop of Newark, but the 'hands-on' stuff, is carried out by a Bishop from South Carlolina.
