What are you opinions on cloning and on whether or not it's ok or not?

What are you opinions on cloning and on whether or not it's ok or not? As of now , I don't have a major problem with the concept itself . I have a feeling that I *would* have major problems in how they would go about persuing the research .

I guess I do have a problem to cloning, at least when it comes to human beings. Maybe I should even object to cloning animals. It seems like man is attempting to play God by creating life. Would the ones creating the clones have any respect for that life or would they see fit to use it and abuse it any way they see fit? I just don't feel comfortable with it at all. Just because we can do something, doesn't mean that we should do it.

I don't think cloning is right. What gives mankind the right to do such a thing? Some may argue that it could save lives and cure diseases but God is in charge, not us.

I think it's a silly idea. What's the point of shrinking the gene pool by creating genetically identical lifeforms? Diseases spread faster in populations that are close genetically. And diseases pop up more often in such populations...
Doing something "to see if we can" is also a pretty bad excuse.
Now, I'd have no problems if we were cloning specific organs (like hearts and stuff) so that people could have transplants to keep them alive.

Before we got to that stage, we'd have to grow whole bodies for that purpose. Then you have to deal with storing them, keeping them alive and healthy, and yet most of the time we'd shelve them anyway, like vegetable people. I just see a big mess if we really get into it.

I really can't see any long term good coming from cloning anything.
