Follow to Know

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord. (Hosea 6:3)

Not all at once, but by degrees shall we attain to holy knowledge, and our business is to persevere and learn by little and little. We need not despair, though our progress may be slow, for we shall yet know. The Lord, who has become our Teacher, will not give us up, however slow of understanding we may be; for it is not for His honor that any degree of human folly should baffle His skill. The Lord delights to make the simple wise.

Our duty is to keep to our main topic and follow on to know, not this peculiar doctrine nor that, but Jehovah Himself. To know Father, Son, and Spirit, the Triune God, this is life eternal. Let us keep to this, for in this way we shall gain complete instruction. By following on to know the Lord, we learn healing after being torn, binding up after smiting, and life after death. Experience has its perfect work when the heart follows the trackway of the almighty Lord.

My soul, keep thou close to Jesus, follow on to know God in Jesus, and so shalt thou come to the knowledge of Christ, which is the most excellent of all the sciences. The Holy Ghost will lead thee into all truth. Is not this His gracious office? Rely upon Him to fulfill it.

man thats good.... that blessed me.
becuase i for one am the type of person who sees someone who is wiser than myself and i immediatly put a demand on myself to get to that persons level and know all that for myself... i think i crave understanding more than anything else except food and air. and sometimes man its just hard to not beat myself up for being ignorant or unwise compared to other people....

from knowing God to knowing understanding... but its good to know that truth isnt a destination, its a journey, if we follow on...to the know the Lord.
amen, thats good man.

The previous verse explains *how* we get to "know the Lord", insteading of just reading words about Him:-
"Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. (Hosea 6v1-2)

If we take 1000 years for a "day" in prophecy (2 Peter 3v8), then 2000 years after Hosea comes to the 14th century AD when national Israel (now in the British Isles) began to experience religious reformation. Specifically:-

675BC - Last deportations of Israel by Assyria (the "tearing" and "smiting" for their idolatry and rejection of Jehovah)
+ 2000
1324 AD - birth of John Wycliffe - translated the bible into English, so that the common man could read for himself and see through the blindness of the religion at that time.

Soon after this, people began to see past Christ on the cross (which is all many see in "church") to the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on all flesh... the days of "the latter rain" began after 1260 years of "no rain" since the early church fell into unbelief (Rev. 11v1-6, 13v5-7, Dan. 7v25)
