When a brother or sister asks on CF for prayer, are we more likly to skim over it and say 'someone else will do it' or do we go in and pray for/with them? I've been guilty of the latter myself but as Christians, when someone asks for prayer should that sway our attention from theology or any other discussions?
Jam 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
I'm starting to think that when I skim over someones prayer request I'm failing to submit to my brother or sister out of genuine love or care for them. What greater good can we do for someone then to take 20 seconds to a minute out of our schedule to lift them up? Does not Christ say:
Mat 25:34 Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'
I think the principal can be applied in terms of lifting up one another.
