I've been using the RCL for years to prepare ecumenical lectionary-based Sunday-School notes. So my main question would be, why has it taken ECUSA so long to approve even trial usage of a lectionary that is, frankly, quite an improvement on the old Vatican-approved prototype that they adapted back in 1979? The RCL is used by so many other denominations, and other provinces of the Communion, that it is an strong enabler of interdenominational cooperation.

Of course, it's actually going to make my Sunday-school notes more complex, as now I'll have the RCL version published by the Common Consultation on Texts, the RCL version as adapted by the Office of Liturgy and Music, and the old 1979-prayer-book version!

Also, I find it intriguing that http://www.io.com/~kellywp/index.html, where I go to pick up my ECUSA readings each week, is referring to the 1979 lectionary as "Traditional!" When I started preparing lectionary-based Sunday-school lessons, I was using the 1662 lectionary. Now, that's Traditional.

Remember, there are still people in ECUSA who refuse to use the 1987 BCP! :D

Whoops! 1979! 1979! 1979!

How on earth did I make that typo? Is there a smiley for 'sticking head in sand'?
