I know someone who has been wanting to be baptized for some time but doesnt want to join a specific church. Just wants to be baptized into Christ's name. Do any of you know a place in Utah where someone can be baptized in this way?

That would be complete freedom from a specific group's involvement .

But isn't baptism normally done in front of witnesses? I would think that you could go to just about any church and they'd baptise you without denominational affiliation and/or church membership if you wanted.

That is not always true - there are a minority of denominations and movements which believe that only their baptism is acceptable, but it is certainly true of any sound Christian church that I know of.

Here is a link to a sound Christian ministry in Utah that you could contact who would likely be able to direct you to a church or missionary who could baptize you publicly.

Keep in mind that there is nothing stopping you from being baptized by a Christian friend with other friends witnessing your profession also.

Yes , normally . I brought it up because many don't even consider it .

If the person is going to be baptized according to the New Testament, which is immersion in water by the authority of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, by another Christian, in order to receive the forgiveness of sins (Mt.28:19) (Acts 2:38) then that person will automatically be added to the church of Christ. (Acts 2:47)

Before a person is baptized, they must already have received Christ as Saviour and the forgiveness of their sins and if so, are already a member of the body of Christ.

Find a church of Christ - they will do it.

You can't baptize yourself.

there are a minority of denominations and movements which believe that only their baptism is acceptable.

They are wrong. Any valid* triune baptism is acceptable.

(*there are a few constraints: there has to be a valid intent (so for example, actors on a stage doing a baptism isn't a baptism) and it has to use the words "In the name of the father, the son and the Holy Spirit" and it's advisable that the person baptising is themselves baptised).

Ah, but if you were already baptised, you can't be baptised again at all.. ;)

One does not need a denomination.

Well , a lot of those that disagree with infant baptism would disagree with you because thay consider that it is important to do so out of one's decision .

I can water baptize myself everyday , if I want . I don't because I don't like rituals . But , if I considered it a symbol for repentance , I could do so again to symbolize my repentance if I needed to repent of something .

Yes . The statement that you quoted showed that it was about a denomination .

You gave a quote from a poster in a previous post and stated that one does not need a denomination . I agreed with you that the statement that you quoted was clearly an indication that the poster was declaring that a certain group was a denomination .

I believe that anyone (not yourself) can baptize and as long as it is done in the name of the of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit then it is valid.

I would agree as long as that "anyone" is a born again believer in Jesus and thus has received Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
