Hi

We are having problems with our current network cluster.

We are basically saturating it, and we are setting up a SECONDARY network to handle the traffic. This explains certain times of slowness we are still getting despite the server upgrades.

We are projecting that we will be using approximately 12,000 Gb of bandwidth this month alone, and that's conservative.

To handle this, I've commissioned a second network. As such, the current servers will all have new IPs assigned, which will necessitate some downtime for about 24-48 hours.

Thank you for understanding. This will happen in a day or two.

Without a doubt, this will maintain our speed at all times.

Will deleting some old threads help at all (I know you were considering it) or will it simply not matter after this next upgrade?

As a rather weak comparison, I regularly delete old files on my lil' computer here and then follow with a defrag. ;)

Yes, please do delete old threads! I wouldn't mind! I've only been here a short time and I wouldn't mind if you deleted some of my posts, if it would help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

many people use old threads all the time to access info or to refer others instead of posting things over and over. I agree--some threads can go, but ask about them first, ya know?

Good idea.. deleting old junk that no one ever reads will free up a lot of space arround here...

The problem is'nt space, is't Bandwith, how much data is being Requested each month.

Storage is cheep, You can get a Terrabyte for under a Grand now adays, but to Transmit a Terrabyte, you must pay for that Each & Every month.

Storage is a one Time Payment, Bandwith ....

What if (and maybe this is already being done) old threads were archived to text only? Not having all the graphics would certainly save on bandwidth.
