It's so hard looking for ministry positions in churches. Many people are looking for someone with a college or seminary degree. It doesn't matter if you've impacted the lives of people around you or if you love God. Churches are starting to look for credentials that really have no bearing on the Word of God and serving Him out of love and devotion. It's getting harder and harder to distinguish the church from the world! :help:

It's strange I have been wrestling with the same thing. The whole idea of seminary is a relativly new concept - maybe the last 150'ish years. It seems how well you can manage a business takes the priority............to some extent...........

It's good to know that someone else out there is facing the same thing. To know that one is called is not an easy thing, but when those who are supposed to help encourage slam the door in your face, it makes one wonder where the church is heading. Thanks for the reply.

If it wasn't so hard to get into, would it still be worth as much?

its not so hard to get into being a christian, but harder stay in the lifestyle... so i do think it would still be worth as much.
being a minister comes from the heart...and no amount of schooling can tell you that you are meant to be a pastor. sure it can help, but i still dont believe that it is more valuable than the school of life and having a mentor. no one can say "well you have to go to school and get a BA and MA to be a christian and then we will believe you are saved"...that too comes from the heart.
i dont agree with all the things you have to do to become a minister of the gospel. my church doesnt make it mandatory to do all those things. i thank God that the calling of God and obeying His spirit is more important there than any piece of paper man can give me.

Could the message be; don't try to build on another man's work? One of the Ministers I admire the most, started a prayer meeting in his garage and built into a church of about 200. Go get 10 or 12 drug addicts radically saved and you're on your way!!

Sadly the church is like the world, especially in this area. I believe you must follow the spirit and wait on God (Hos 12:6). In the mean time be a Christian and God will lead you in the right direction. I know my problem is that I want things and answers now and it is hard to wait.
