I"m very excited..I just went to my first church service as a Christian! I've gone to them before but at the time didnt' really believe in it, I just went to satisfy my family. This is the first time I've gone because I really wanted to! It was great, it's a Baptist Church, and it's pretty small, which I like. I must admit I was nervous going in but everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Of course since it's a tiny church everyone noticed me, the new person, right away! I got to talk to the pastor (is it pastor in Baptist churches?) and he was very happy to hear I'd recently been saved. Sigghhhh I had a great time! I feel like an "official" CHristian now ! I'm definatly going back next week!

You sound just like I did after my first service! My church is also small, and a Baptist Church. I'm glad you feel comfortable and you enjoy it enough to keep going!

KCJls...are the preacher's called "paster" in Baptist churches, or what? I'm very new so I'm not sure, and I don't want to make some dumb mistake. Yeah I left there just beaming...and it's funny, I was SO uncomfortable going in. Mainly cause I didn't know anyone and didn't know if I'd be singled out. I was singled out a little bit but not in a bad way.

Pastor? That's the same thing as a preacher/minister. No, I'm not. I'm just a member of the lovely Baptist Church, and I love seeing people so happy going to the Baptist Church.

I was very uncomfortable too. I didn't know what to expect, but I left so happy. It was an amazing experience, and I love going every chance I get.

Yes I was very happy with what a positive experience it was. There was great energy there. It was funny, I had such a negative idea of Baptist churches..but that was from when I was an atheist, so what did I know? But it was nice to see I was wrong about it!

I'm so glad you went. Are you going to be baptized?

Well I will be eventually..I was never baptized as a child. Though of course I'm waiting to make sure it's the right church for me. In Baptist churches, do you have to take a class before you can be baptized?

Usually the pastor is the one that preaches but others can preach as well. Preachers are people with a gift of teaching and most pastors have that gift as well as a gift of pastoring but they can also be different.
I don't know if you have to take a class on it but it is a good idea to understand all that is involved with baptism, what it means etc.

Welcome home!! I'm so glad that you found a good church. You can call the guy talking up front a pastor, minister, preacher...all apply. :)

Yes crossrunner, I definatly feel at home there. It is just what I pictured as the "perfect church". Very small, kinda minimalist..reminds me of something you'd see in a small southern town. Which is what I live in, go figure! :sorry:
