I pray everyday/night. During the summer, I read the Bible every single day. I need to get myself reading at least 3 days a week again.

Well I don't have a Bible yet (my Mom is mailing me my old one) but pretty much everyday I've been reading parts of Christian books. I'm starting "Case for Christ" tonight. I try to do some Christian study reading every night. I also pray when I feel like it. I try to pray at night just to thank Jesus for what he's teaching me, but sometimes I'll just feel like praying about a particurlar thing, so I will.

I'm a Bible nut. I am so amazed with the Bible. My favorite is my computer program Bible with more versions of the Bible and commentaries than the library holds. Doing word searches bring up the most interesting things.
All the references of the word "firstborn" for the whole Bible showed me some very interesting things about the New Testament Church and the tribe named after the son of Joseph Ephraim. I had always wondered by God's prophets spoke so much to Ephraim, and when I learned that Ephraim received the double portion blessing usually reserved for the "firstborn" son of a family when a father would bless all his sons......well it brought some deeper understanding to me. The Bible is like that. You will learn new things as long as you continue to look into it as God's perfect word of truth.

I read from my bible every day. I pray at least once a week, and have just decided now that I need to make a commitment to do this every day.

I try to read at least 2 pages of the Bible everynight, and almost always succeed. I always pray before I go to bed and then any other time when I feel it is right.

lately i havent done a good job at this, but i try to spend about an hour or so in reading and prayer everyday.
im not trying to brag if thats more than someone else, i just screw up alot of stuff everyday if i dont, so i have too.
i mean if i go a day or so without spending a good amount of time in prayer and reading the world, i fall apart. the pieces become unglued.

but lately i havent been doing good at this, which is why i havent been myself lately in the forums. i usually post a revelation God gives me pretty often in the deeper fellowship forum and im real positive and encouraging, but God hasnt told me anything over the past few days and i havent made hardly any posts... becuase my prayer life isnt what it should be. and im scared to try help people, becuase i know my life isnt where it needs to be.

I pray everyday. As I go about my day I find myself praying in my head to God.
It may seem silly to some, but I find it helps me to get through my day better.
My husband and I were doing a bible study together every night but we have stopped doing it.
I read the Bible at least once a day, due to wanting to find something new out that I may not know or understand, or I may be researching something for my Preteen Class or my Wednesday class of kids.

I pray every night, before most meals, and whatever time in between if I feel I need to talk to God. I don't read my bible enough though.

I know that I don't pray and read my Bible enough. I pray at night, because that's when I get really really scared. It's an entirely different story and angle.. God bless.

I do pray a lot. I pray through the day. But I feel guilty because I don't pray enough for other people. I feel like God has given me a gift to pray for other people so the question is not "am I praying?" (because I do that a lot, like talking to God, contemplating God, asking forgiveness, asking for help, etc.) but the real question for me is, "Am I praying for other people?"

I read the bible every day. But I am not always making good progress in my studies.

I don't read my Bible every day. I do pray several times a day much of the time as I go about my day.

i read and meditate on His word daily. i do my best not to miss a day. usually read at night but try to do it earlier in the day. it helps me have a better start :)

i pray in the morning, praising Him and dedicating the day, and my activities to Him; before eating, blessing the Lord for His provision; after something nice happens, thanking Him; when i have a problem, asking for his help/apologizing when i did something that doesnt please Him; it is not something mechanical or just habit. sometimes i forget to thank Him or praise His goodness, i worry about problems instead of asking for help but in many ways He always reminds me...'I am here.'

rick warren is a gifted author and pastor. and God has used him to help many people grow spiritually through his book, esp. the purpose driven life.

but no book/devotional can take the place of your own personal reading and meditation. i recommend reading this very nice book to supplement your time with God, not to replace it. we do not have to follow the recommended number of days/pages per day to grow, it is more important to understand and apply what we have learned. the word of God was written not just to inform us but to transform us.

im sorry if i sound like preaching but i have read that book twice (and both times)somewhere along the way, i have made the mistake of substituting, and im sure that was not the author's purpose. dont want new believers who are starting to regularly read the bible to stop. when you do, it is hard to get back into the habit again. hard, but not impossible, ok. i've been there. nothing is impossible with God! (luke 1:37)

God bless us all!

I try to read my bible and pray every day.However.... I often don't manage it. The trouble is if I didn't yesterday then its easier to not do today and even easier to not do tommorrow.

I also have trouble understanding and remembering what I've read, so often I seem to read the same chapter over and over again before some of it finally sinks in.

My question is what is the best way other new christians have found to ensure they stick to reading the bible daily.

Thanks

what i do is follow a program, tried the one chapter a day reading and the 3 chapters a day reading. sometimes i get distracted by a new devotional while im in the middle and that's when i lose my momentum-when i change the material. it might not be the same for everyone.

i think we all have weaknesses and the enemy knows how to attack us. the biblical way of dealing with that is to pray and have an accountability partner. someone you talk to daily who can help you establish a regular time with God. it would be good if you are of the same sex.
