Unbaptised Christian question

OK so I'm new to all this..I haven't even been to a church service yet (I'm going this coming Sunday). I've been doing lots of reading and studying and it just seems right. Anyway I said something to my boyfriend about being a Christian and he said "You're not a Christian if you're not baptised". He was just joking around but it got me wondering, is that true? I wasn't baptised as a child (I'm 25 now). Once I find a Church I am comfortable with and learn more I want to be baptised..but that will be awhile. Does it mean anything negative to God that I'm not baptised yet? Thanks!

I wouldn't accept your boyfriends view. Christians should be baptised, yes........but if you're not it doesn't mean you are not Christian.

It is your faith that makes you Christian. :D

The thief on the cross wasn't baptised. Christ said that he would be with him in paradise.

Baptism is symbolic of your new life in Christ...your rebirth....its good to be baptised...however, our salvation doesn't come from works but from grace given to us by Christ.

If your faith is real then you don't have to worry. Never get baptised out of fear. You should get baptised to show you are serious and committed to following Christ forever. Pray to find a good church soon. I am praying that for you.

Thanks for the replies! Well I didn't mean I want to get baptised out of fear..no way. I was just wondering what ya'll thought. I checked out Starelda's thread and there was lots of good advice on there, thanks for reccomending it. I appreciate everyones help. Thanks! :kiss:

LOL that's ok..my profile isn't that interesting but feel free to look at it! Yep I came to CHrist just a few days ago! Alot of it was thanks to the people here! I was an atheist for years and I started studying Bible Prophecy (my Mom told me about it and it sparked my interest) and asking lots of questions and from that I was saved! I just was amazed at the amount the Bible knew of current times. So anyway I've been asking lots of questions cause I don't have much Biblical knowledge. My Mom's mailing me my old study Bible so I keep waiting to get in the mail so I can read it for myself! Anyway thanks for the welcome! I'm very excited to have reached this new place in my life!
