Hello!
Do you have to be Jewish to post here? I have experienced varying definitions of Messianic so I thought I had better ask first. :) I have no Jewish heritage, but other than that I am Messianic in many ways. My family and I have celebrated Chanukkah, Rosh Hashanah, and Sukkot for more than a decade. We have just started celebrating Passover and I am very interested in learning about the other Jewish holidays. We love the songs as well (most of the tunes are incredible!). My family and I keep the Saturday Sabbath and have also kept the kosher and circumcision according to the Old Testament (or Tanach :P). (I have never eaten unclean meat before.) I believe that these things are totally optional for Christians, but I personally want to follow them. :)
Shalom Aleykchem B'Shem Ha Melekh!

The majority of us here are messianic Gentiles
You are most welcome here
Heck IMHO you probably could fly the scrolls
Blessings

Shalom costlygrace. no, you do not have to be Jewish to post here, but if you wish to contribute ( that is, give opinions and such, more than just ask questions or make friendship posts ) then you should choose the Torah scroll as your denominational icon. That is if you answer no to my question below.
I would be interested in hearing all the knowledge you have collected over the years on Kasrut, and your Torah observance. I am curious as to how you have always eaten Kosher and not be Jewish, so please don't be offended if I ask if you are SDA?

Shalom,
First off, let me say that anyone who would like to explore Messianic Judaism, the Jewish roots of Christanity, or Judaism is welcome here! The truth is that 90% of the people here are Gentiles (and most of them were raised Christian, but HaShem guided them to their Jewish roots). I myself am a Jew, only by blood though, both my parents are Christians, but my great Grandmother was a Jew, and since I have Jewish blood on my mother's side, I am a Jew. Anyways you are very lucky that you have the support of your family when it come to following the Torah, most here don't. If you would like to discuss things here, I would suggest that you change your icon from a Christian to a Messianic, because that is really what you are, right?
Shalom

Welcome...pull up a chair and have a nice warm drink while you tackle the many and varied opinions on this forum, as we have come from many directions to fellowship here.
We love to see a different angle and believe that the Lord wanted us to be like a rainbow in our spectrum of understanding so that we are broad minded on the narrow path.
Look forward to hear your spiritual journey, so if you would be so kind as to go up to the mino intro and introduce your self, it will be a great way for us to get a little background on your travels with the Lord.
May the Lord continue to bless you on your spiritual quests with His belesings

Another sabbath keeping group.....not to be confused with us, but have been enough confusion by some people that there has been the need to ask and differentiate.

I am actually noe SDA. I am Evangelical Quaker, and I think a Messianic Quaker is somewhat unusual, though certainly acceptable to the Quakers I know. My family used to be involved in Calvary Chapel's Messianic group and some others, until we moved away. Anyway, do I have to have the scroll for my icon in here, then? I prefer to post in general forums as simply "Christian" or "non-denominational", but anyway...
I will be glad to tell more about myself when I get the chance. :)

Wherever you are comfortable, you will find that they have an icon that identifies you. You can always be able to post questions here, just will not be able to post your opinions unless you have our icon, and that rule applies in other forum areas where the Icon indicates what opinion rights you have in that are of the forum. It cuts down on the doctrinal debates getting too volatile. General theology forum is a free for all area of the forum.
May God continue to bless you on your spiritual journey. May you find a home on the forum that is a comfort zone for you, that you may share your faith in realtive comfort. It is good to share with like mindedness and grow in understanding.
God Bless

My immediate family, yes (meaning my parents' family, as I am a teen), and I know I am very fortunate for that. When it comes to all other relatives, though, it is a very different matter. The only thing they will tolerate short of total conformity to culture is church attendance on Sunday, and that only because it makes one look respectable to other church-going people. :sigh: So add up no TV (shock!), kosher observance (gasp!), modest clothing (shame!), no violent video games (the poor children!), Saturday Sabbath (an outrage!), and you name it...our family finally just had to say goodbye to relatives so as not to be destroyed!!!
If you would like to discuss things here, I would suggest that you change your icon from a Christian to a Messianic, because that is really what you are, right?

Actually I am very much both, and do not want to be "put in a box" by either one. :) Both sides are a very important part of me. I don't know if I am ready to put up a Torah icon, though, in spite of how much I would like to be a part of this group :( --I prefer it when the congregational forums instead ask me to tell enough about myself for them to know where I stand, like some here do (or if I could have it as one of my special items :P). But anyway, nice meeting you guys! I am very glad to see how many there are here who are Messianic.

Is Beth Ariel the group you are referring to? On Calvary Chapel's site they link Beth Ariel but on Beth Ariel's site they do not link Calvary Chapel. How are they affiliated? (just curious :) )
