Here (not only here) are so many "difficult" words.
The diciples evidently did not understand Jesus' words, at least on many occasions cited in the Bible.
Did Luther, do we, do you?
The Catholic's (that I know) tends to say: "That is a mystery."
Mystery means somethings that is in the dark, beyond understanding in the way that it can be translated into other words.
I see many persons treat "mystic words" if they (the words) were out in the light.
Take Jesus.
It was not the name of the historic person. But still more important:
Does Jesus mean as much (!) the eternal person as the historic one?
He said: "I am Life."
I read much into that.
Life is so absolutely not "a historic person".
So He was more ..... what more .... ("son" does not help further than to indicate a relationship that we aknowledge, but what "more" ...)
Take "belief".
Martin Luther was radical about it.
I have never found a satisfactory translation of this word that is so often misused, and if not framed in dogmatically, subtracted from existential challenge.
I have tried to see belief as "where you put your attention and where you steer your (immediate) acts", and by "steering" I mean like a servant steer attention and acts (obedient, intelligent, devoted, responsible, but also sometimes blinded and invalidated ...)
Only problem: a servant is no good if he is without a "masters will" or a "masters need". (But YHWH has no "needs".)
Any good experiences for a soul that is "isolated"/passivated/mutilated?
Common praise is wonderful. But unavailable.
Jesus lived in a big family most of his earthly life.
Later it is told that he retreated. But that was for a period only. He always came back.
How do you manage when isolation "freezes" in upon you?

I split this out from Liberated Lutherans, and am making it it's own thread in Non-Denom... Non-Denom mods, feel free to move it where you see fit.

Luke 18
17Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
I just trust in my Father and fellowship with Him. We're never really isolated you know. The Father and the Son dwell in us (if we're born from above.) It's really not that complicated.
God bless you Jeff. Be filled with the Spirit! Sing with your spirit. Thank God continually. We're all One Body. I hope that you're a part of that Body.

Hi Jeff,
I hope I'm understanding what you're refering to. Sometimes Father puts us into isolation to get our attention. To strip us of all distractions so He can do a work in our soul and bring us into closer communion with Him. As you said, Jesus went into isolation but returned, and so will we. I've been in isolation for a few years now and it took some getting used to, but all I can do is trust that He has me where He wants me and He'll lead me out of isolation when He thinks I'm ready. These can also be thought of as 'seasons' of the soul. This can be a pretty painful experience at times. But I just hang in there... no other way to describe it, and know that one day it'll be over. Get into the Word, pray, read, talk to people on CF...

Can I also add that what StevenL said is true... be thankful, be filled with the Spirit, sing and make melody in your heart... and learn to be content in whatever circumstance or situation He puts you in. Learning to be content is a huge factor.

Shoo, I totally know how you feel. I just put all my trust in God who loves me with perfect love and is in control of every aspect of my life.

they were on a need to know basis , did not need to know until the ressurection ... see story of the road to Emmaeus . If they knew they would blab , and the devil would not have killed him - no atonement - no born again , no forgivenss , no victory --
The Catholic's (that I know) tends to say: "That is a mystery."
Mystery means somethings that is in the dark secret things of God , not common knowledge , beyond understanding in the way that it can be translated into other words. I see many persons treat "mystic words" if they (the words) were out in the light.
Dt. 29.29 ( mystery ) true , but I do not have a clue how ...
Take Jesus.
It was not the name of the historic person. But still more important:

He said: "I am the way , the truth , the Life." I read much into that. Life is so absolutely not "a historic person". So He was more ..... what more .... ("son" does not help further than to indicate a relationship that we aknowledge, but what "more" ...)
the means to the end , to fulfil will of father , to set you free , to die that you might live ...
Take "belief".
Martin Luther was radical about it.

justification by faith ... as Noah , Abraham , Issac , Jacob ...
word was a simple book , men have complicated , canonized , and use to their own end , to their own vain glory .... not yours , ours , all mankind
Only problem: a servant is no good if he is without a "masters will" or a "masters need". (But YHWH has no "needs".)
I came to do the father's will , do only what I see Him do and say ?
Any good experiences for a soul that is "isolated"/passivated/mutilated?
fasting , prayer , intercession , giving , fellowship , outreach , evangalism ...
get up , go out and meet people ; do random acts of kindness : fee parking meters about to expire , pick up shoping carts , join the Y , health club ,
get out where God has room to work on you
Common praise is wonderful. But unavailable.
look at pslam 150 ... clap , sing , play music , sing , stamp foot , shout ?
Jesus lived in a big family most of his earthly life.
Later it is told that he retreated. But that was for a period only. He always came back.
went to be alone to pray , to check in with the commander in chief , to be strengthend prior to the next trial ..
How do you manage when isolation "freezes" in upon you?
write letters , make cards , call friends , go meet strangers , pray

Psalm 139 ... we are never alone ... God and his angels encamp around us , before and behind us ... talk to them as they were your friends ... be a bit wierd ... say thanks , ask for help , rejoice in God's promises , rejoice in who you can be by the ministry of the Spirit , dare to change , to do some thing uncomfortable .... isolation , Isaiah 48.10 ; Zechariah 13.8 is the precursor to promotion ... a little holy ghost boot camp ..:preach:
