Fasting has been on my mind a lot lately. I have some prayers I'd really like to see answered and think this may be a key to it. I'm just looking for input from anyone who has experience with it. Have any of you had breakthrough with prayer or received an answer by fasting, and what is your general opinion of it? Thanks for the help, Jeff

Personally I have recently finished fasting. My experience was that I have yet to have my prayers answered. But the thing that I learned the most during my fast was that God is there and He is good. I admit it is hard to say that even though I haven't had my prayers answered. But maybe God is using the fast to change me rather than change what I want.
God Bless

I am currently fasting for lent. I have grown to very much appreciate the "sundays aren't fast days" theory. :)

Just remember God doest always answer your prayers the way you may want.
Fasting brings us closer to God, when you are fasting you really are relying on God for your strenth and its a great feeling

To me fasting can mean "fasting" in regard to a variety of things. I've found in my own life that fasting from foods is not that spiritually beneficial for me because I already maintain a really strict diet for Western standards and I have low blood sugar and can get rather ill if I don't eat at regular intervals. So instead of fasting from foods I fast from secular things (like TV, movies, etc.) and do a lot of intense prayer, Bible reading, and devotional type exercises. This brings me closer in tune with God, and it increases my faith and trust in Him. My prayers are answered when I have done this . . . probably because when I'm swimming in God's Word I tend to pray for things that are naturally more in-line with His will for my life rather than selfish things.
