Alright!

So we go to church this morning expecting to hear George (http://www.stjoan.com/staff.htm#wertin) speak. But no!

We had a special guest speaker. Amy Goodman (http://www.buzzflash.com/interviews/04/01/int04006.html) of Democracy Now! (http://www.democracynow.org) was passing through town on a book tour and somebody managed to snag her to speak.

And Peter Ostrosuhko (http://www.peterostroushko.com/) came by and played some mandolin. And we did the a capella version of my new favorite hymn, "Only Remembered" with Dan singing in his little-boy tenor. And we sang "Let There Be Peace on Earth".

And I think my friend Chris was the guy who yelled "Yes!" when Amy Goodman called Henry Kissinger a war criminal. I'm not sure--he was about ten rows in front of us. Ms. CaDan and I were in the back with the smokers, hoods, and greasers 'cause we were a little late.

It sounds like you had a very inspiring Sunday morning in your church congregation..I like the mingling of speakers and harmonic music together---and the spiritual innovative with "attitude".

( I wanted very much to respond to this, though I was unsure, I'm very honored to listen....I'm curious how city church life is out in the midwest)

Generally not very much like mine, I'm afraid.

Well.... I was beginning to feel like I was in a Sharon Stone movie again---- the "Quick and the Dead" for just a moment there, myself...
My horse, "No Name" is still tied up around back though....

CaDan I would like to go to your church sometime. I think I said this before, but your pastor must love you guys a lot (and be very secure in his pastorage) to bring so many interesting speakers and performers.

We had a very inspiring preacher in our church Sunday. He was a COG preacher from the Virgin Islands. His sermon was about living without shame.....very liberating.

He had carried the shame of his childhood for years until God showed him that Christ bore his shame for him....he no longer needed to carry it. (and that he had great purpose in his life)

Great testimony and sermon.
