View Full Version : BETA-TEST: CF Instant Messenger v2.0!

Okay, here we go again. :) The previous version 2.0 had some issues.

CFIM is back and better than ever.

Click on the CFIM link in the navbar, and a popup will appear (please note that this will not work if you have a popup blocker).

The popup will log into the CFIM service and you will see all the names of CF members who are logged into CFIM.

Double-click on a name and another popup will appear where you can IM and chat with the member in real-time - no refresh needed!

When you close the CFIM chat window, make sure you CLOSE THE WINDOW opened in the CFIM member's list as well!

To remain logged into CFIM and have others IM you, you need the CFIM window opened.

NOTE: This service is BETA at the moment. Let me know if there are any problems with it!

1. For this to work install the SUN version for any browser (not the Microsoft version) of JAVA found here:

http://java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp (http://java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp)

2. If you are logged into CFIM, you cannot use the CF IRC Java client at the same time. To use the CF IRC Java client, close the CFIM window, and then go to the page with the CFIM java client.

If you want to receive IMs while using the CF IRC Java client, or you could even do this using mIRC, just join the channel #cfim - you will be logged in and be able to receive CFIM, even if you're not on CF!!! :)

An FAQ will be written shortly once everything is set up.

I feel horrible for saying this, but it doesn't look like it's showing on my computer. Is it supposed to take a while for it to pop up or something?

oops, never mind... it looks like I somehow downloaded a pop up blocker last night... (confused)

It pops up for me, but I get an X below the logo and that's with all popup software and firewall disabled.

You'll need to have JVM or Java Virtual Machine loaded or enabled in your browser.

i see the same as doofus125. a red little box with a black X. i thgouth i had java virtual machine enabled though.
there's a little blank, but i can't type anything in it.

or is it cause no one else is on CFIM right now?

It seems to be working for me (even with my popup blocker enabled) except the person I pm'd didnt' respond. ;) :P

It works ok but I don't like that appearance. WHERE ARE THE SMILES?

I installed Java and it works for me now :) I didn't realize it wasn't installed, I guess I missed alot of stuff after my crash last month :(

I installed Java and it works for me now :) I didn't realize it wasn't installed, I guess I missed alot of stuff after my crash last month :(aha might be my problem too.

sadly, i don't really IM people. lol hmmm :P
