...anybody have any passages or words of advice for overcoming nervousness? I am EXTREMELY nervous about a very important interview next week, and I pray nearly every half hour for God to alleviate just a fraction of the magnitude of my worry...

Caelum...here are a few trustworthy verses...and I'll be sure to pray for you and Lux tonight during our service.
I particularly like Phil 4 verses because they not only tell you not to be anxious but what to do instead...
Phil 4:6-9
6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
John 14:26-27

Are you worried about nerves in the interview itself? There are various ways to ignore anxiety beforehand, but I think only experience helps the most "on the day". That's what I've learned from performing. Can you practice with friends or even strangers (at a speakers' group for instance). That would help, as long as it's formal and not comfortable.

That's what I've learned from performing. Can you practice with friends or even strangers (at a speakers' group for instance). That would help, as long as it's formal and not comfortable.
Well, it's not so much the nerves during the interview. I want to be accepted into this program so bad. I've worked the last 4 years for this moment and am putting a lot on the line trying to get in. It will dictate my life for the next 4 years again! It's very important, 1 of 2 of the most important interviews I will ever have. I get extremely stressed out right before interviews, however; typically once I sit down and see how it's going to be, I automatically relax and everything runs smoothly. I've never been turned down after I have received an interview with anything. I just pray that God grants me this fortune again.
I know a few of the questions, but I don't really want to prepare my answers. I feel that the best answers are the ones that come naturally, otherwise I will revert to what I had previously determined were going to be my answers, and that's when I will make a mistake.
But could you enlighten me on these ways to ignore anxiety? Other than prayer and faith in His will. Anything will help!

Thanks :)For one thing, it is perfectly natural to feel some anxiety over this step in the process because you are having to sell yourself to those doing the interviewing. Most of our anxiety comes from self-doubt about our worthiness to get the job especially if there is some competition for the position. All of a sudden we start to wonder if what we bring to the table is as good as the other person(s) interviewing.
I try to pray about it. Asking God to calm me and then to think of all the reasons why I am better for this position than the others. Competition hopefully keeps us humble enough. You will do fine. Just bring this anxiety to him as Phil 4:6-7 say "Don't be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God with thanksgiving. And the peace of God which transcend all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

Hey everyone, I feel the interview went well...As with anything you attempt to perfect, a couple of things I would have changed now that I reflect, but thats only normal....thank you for your help/prayers and support, i'll letcha know what they thought in a couple of weeks!
