What relevance have the XXXIX Articles TODAY?

Well it doesn't help that they essentially shoved the 39 Articles in the back of the prayer book under "Historical Documents", rarely ever to see the light of day.

    Book of Common Prayer

To get back on track, the Reformed Episcopal Church has their own 1975 version and I've seen their new 2011 version, but I don't know much about REC, where would they be on the Traditional or Continuing Anglican chart.

    Book of Common Prayer

Nigeria doesn't use the 1662, but their own 1996 version of the BCP. Also they aren't too keen on many of the positions taken by the CofE (Homosexual marriage being one). I wish I could expand more on that, but if one looks at the Anglican Communion and the relationship between the provinces...

    Lent Study

Would binge watching "Rev" be considered an acceptable Lenten practice?

    Lent Study

The church has either evening prayer or compline (depending on the week) services on Wednesdays during Lent. I also have a workbook from SSJE to go along with their Lenten video series.

    English Office

The 1928 Daily Office is pretty good and is what I was using before I picked up the English Office. Before that was the 1979, which was OK but for some reason the page flipping seemed more tedious to be honest. I did like the Lancelot Andrewes BCP, which is a version of the American 1928 but...

NYC and BOSTON to get Whacked

Probably about a little over a foot out there now, spent the last 2 hours shoveling and it's still coming down.

NYC and BOSTON to get Whacked

Same in Connecticut and Massachusetts (where I work and live). Travel ban in Massachusetts starts at midnight, while in Connecticut it starts at 9pm. Only emergency and healthcare workers are basically allowed on the roads.

NYC and BOSTON to get Whacked

Praying for all those in the afflicted areas. As an aside don't people in Boston consider anything west of 495 to be "Western Mass" :-p

    Help identifying prayer beads

The one thing I don't have is the prayer card that goes with it, I wonder if that will be harder to find (or at least the prayer that was on it).

    Help identifying prayer beads

Well here are some "links" to pictures (as I cannot post them yet): ht(t)p://tinypic(dot)com/r/2lco9hv/8 ht(t)p://tinypic(dot)com/r/v8ndj8/8 It has 20 beads and then one larger bead near the Saint medal, there is also a much smaller bead attached as well.

    Help identifying prayer beads

An Anglican "Rosary" has four groups of 7 beads in each group with a larger bead in between. This one has four groups of 5 beads but no larger beads at all in between.

    Help identifying prayer beads

Sorry it looks like my post count isn't high enough to post an image and I've tried to find one similar online but with no luck. If only I could remember where we got it from.

    Help identifying prayer beads

Hi, while cleaning out some old boxes I came across some prayer beads and wanted to know more about them. There are four groups of five beads on a chain loop attached to a heart centerpiece which has a crown of thorns on it and then a piece of chain with one bead and a saint medal for St. Rock...

    English Office

Received a copy of the 2006 reprinting of The English Office a short while ago and was wondering if anyone else has used this text for morning and evening prayer before. It's pretty much the morning and evening... er mattins and evensong (to use the books terminology) from the 1662 BCP along...

What's an official website for the Anglican/Episcopalian weekly liturgy?

While there is a perfectly good Lectionary in the 1979 BCP, The Episcopal Church in the US uses what's called the Revised Common Lectionary, which is also used by other denominations. I'd include a link but I still need to work on my post count :-p.

    Sign of the Cross?

In my church there are a small minority who sign during the service. Only two or three people genuflect and sign when they get to their pews and at a few other points of the service. The only time a majority of the people sign is during the gospel reading, but even then people do it at...

    Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen
