    "date night" in lockdown

What are you all doing to beat the boredom in your marriage during the pandemic? We have gone to drive-through restaurants, gone for drives, and gone for walks in the county park that is still open. We have watched more movies on Netflix. Overall, it hasn't been any different for our...

    Homemade protein bars

I made some homemade protein bars a week ago with pea protein. Turned out ok. I didn't use a recipe. I knew the concept because I had done it before with a recipe. I was happy with the ingredients because we had everything on hand: oatmeal, PB, honey, hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, coconut, pea...

    Baklava

Made baklava for Christmas. Turned out well. Quite labor intensive but I knew that because I make it once a few years ago. The recipe said it would cost 18 -20 dollars to make I guess it was close to it. Walnuts, phyllo dough and butter are all expensive. Have a wonderful Christmas celebrating...

    Smoothie

What do you all do in yours? I had purchased kale at the farmer's market. So I massaged kale in lemon juice, threw in some orange juice concentrate, water, left-over grapes (almost ready for the garbage disposal), and a tsp of sugar. It was ok and very nutritious. Except the sugar.

    sorghum flour

Anybody have any experience with this? Sorghum is suppose to raise DHT (hormone) so I was looking into it. Supposedly some of the gluten-free breads are made with it.

    copycat doubletree chocolate chip cookie

I made this recipe that you can easily find on line with a search. It called for 1/4 tsp of cinnamon which you could perhaps taste if you tried. Left out the walnuts would have been wonderful ( we even have some local black walnuts that are hulled). It also called for 1/3 cup of oatmeal which...

    Rowing

Anybody use a rowing machine? I'm new to it and have been experimenting with 10 -15 minutes one in a while. It's ok but a bit boring. Any thoughts/

    Holiday cooking/baking

What did you all do over the holidays to bless others (and yourself) with great food? We went to a gathering last night and I made my go-to recipe for cocktail meatballs ( half turkey/half beef). I have made a couple pans of shortbread. For Christmas- experimented with salmon dip. Never even...

    lower abs

I watched some videos on lower ab work yesterday and I'm overwhelmed. I do reverse crunches on a bench currently but it appears that is only in one plane and I should be doing some twisting movement. Frankly, I won't be seeing my abs any time soon because of my body fat percentage. Any...

    dairy and hormones

Have you all heard about the controversy about dairy consumption affecting human's hormones? Apparently small studies have shown dairy to affect both men and women. I've never been one to want to demonize food, but this has caused me to rethink and start to reduce dairy. I looked it up a few...

    exercise as treatment for depression

I know that research shows that exercise can be a treatment for depression. I think it helps me personally. Does anyone have any personal experience with this? The research shows that relatively intense exercise is needed to get the benefit. (had a good workout this morning- It's going to be a...

    afterburn

Afterburn or EPOC or what ever name you give it, it is the calories that you burn after you leave the gym, after you exercise. I watched a few you tube videos about the subject and have started to do more HIIT / intervals because it seems time efficient. I'm doing intervals on a treadmill and...
