Opinion on T-shirt (RC only)

Well, I recommend that you do not wear it, or you can wear it, and say that you "take pride" in being a Christian, and use it to explain your faith (reclaim the word).

Well Riles:

On one hand you COULD I suppose feel that wearing a really cool, colorful shirt marketing clothing to a widely oppressed and discriminated against minority is a crass, snide, rather disreputably Capitalist thing to be doing but....

...you do work in retail after all.

On the other hand you COULD, I suppose just agree with the oppressors and bigots in the world and feel that wearing a really cool, colorful shirt promotes homosexuality in some way that doesn't immediately come to my mind but, whatever, and feel that it's wrong to wear the shirt.

On yet another hand you COULD just wear the blessed shirt, feel cool and colorful and do your job in retail like a good Christian, trading an honest days work for an honest day's pay (plus a cool, colorful shirt).

On this one, seriously, and from the bottom of my heart - no one cares.

Wear the shirt, be cool and colorful, no one thinks you're actually promoting lust. You're a Target retail worker. You guys are too overworked and underpaid to promote anything.

Does the shirt specify in what the pride is to be taken?

Are you allowed to wear personal paraphernalia, such as a pin? If so then pin a small dove or a cross wear the pocket would be.

Be creative. Think of allowable ways to appropriate those words for the gospel.

Are you forced to wear the T-shirt?

Personally, I myself would refuse to wear it. But that's just me. Holy Scripture tells us to avoid even the appearance of evil; for me, I wouldn't see any difference between wearing a "pride" shirt and one with a swastika on it, or a hammer and sickle, or an upside-down five-pointed star.

But that's me.

I agree with you, even though one could still wear the shirt, and re-appropriate the term "pride" as in being proud to be a Catholic, or even modify/paint the shirt to say "Take Pride in Jesus". Hey, can you quote the verse, so I can do an analysis on it tomorrow?

That is sickening. The trans stuff is almost similar to a cult/religion in itself. America, and some other Western nations give freedom of religion, so you should have every right to modify that shirt, as long as it doesn't disparage a religion.

I found the verse. It is 1 Thessalonians 5:22-23: "Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Alright, so tomorrow this verse will be on a devotional in the Christian Scriptures subforum of Christian Forums.

I wouldn't wear it, personally. Just because of the confusion it creates at best. Are you required to wear it when you're on the job in June? If not I wouldn't wear it, and if you are I would push back if you can.

@RileyG , here is the analysis of the verse that Wolseley referred to. I hope that this verse leads you into the right decision:

1 Thessalonians 5:22-23 is a powerful passage that encourages believers to live holy and righteous lives, avoiding anything that may appear evil or give the impression of sin.
